Shaklee has some supplements that are supposed to help the immune system. Does anyone have any experience with NutriFeron and Vivix? A Shaklee representative swears by this stuff but she is also running a business selling the supplements. They have identified interferon as critical to healthy immune function. Anyone using either of these two?
thank you. :o
Floridagirl, you need to be very careful with these supplements as some are designed to boost the immune system - the very last thing we need with Sjogrens Syndrome. Make sure you ask exactly how it works and check with you Dr too. They seem innocent enough but could potentially be very harmful to you. XX Ailsa
harrigan.....I thought the very same thing. I thought usually when they talk about the immune system it is usually trying to stimulate it and that is not what people with SS need. Is it that people with SS have super duper immune systems or just so so and very confused and then attacking itself? I am still so new to all of this. Thank you...
Everything and everybody want to boost your immune system. I get advice all the time about "you should take this and that." Usually, I say I'll ask my dr as I don't take anything without his/her permission. (not necessarily true) But, it nicely settles this offer.
As the posters above said, we do not need a BOOST. Our immune systems are running on high gear and out of control. We don't want to take anything to "help" them devour us. People are just so attuned to listen to advertising and other people's suggestions about this BOOST. Ask your doctor. Lucy
Hi Floridagirl,
The others have a good point, our immune system is already revved way up, but I'd talk to your doctor before you start on any supplements; it's always better to be sure.

Plus, sellers of products always promote their items on boards if they get the chance. Everyone believes THEIR product will cure what ever ails you. Lucy
Hi,
I used to sell Shaklee products and while it is a very good company, environmentally friendly etc., and their products are well made, I don't believe their vitamins will make a huge difference unless you are running some kind of deficit in the first place. They are supplements, plain and simple. I will say that people who sell Shaklee usually totally believe in the product, and do want to help others, but obviously there is a profit motive too.
If you have the money to spend (they are quite pricey) and your doctor approves they are a very good vitamin product, but I wouldn't expect any miracles.
I will say that if you suffer flares because of exposure to things like cleaners, their Basic H2 is a great product. It has very little smell, is non reactive with other products, and has about a thousand uses. It is the one Shaklee product I still use faithfully after 30 yrs!
Take care,
cinmac
Lucy,
Good point!

Hi Cinmac
I appreciate your great response. It seems like all these products are "so great" but I do not want to take anything that will make me worse. I do use the Basic H and have for many many years...it has so many uses. Most doctors do not back vitamin supplements as I have found over the years. Chiropractors do but my rheumy just wants to give you all the heavy duty drugs like Plaquenil, prednisone.
