Title: Rheumatoid Arthiritis and Sjogren's
Post by: marcyalexdavis on April 15, 2009, 07:54:56 AM
I have RA and Sjogren's.  Since both diseases have similar symptoms, it is hard for me to know which disease is causing my fatigue, body aches, etc. I take Plaquenil, Humira, Prednisone, Methotrexate and Ultram.  I have punctal plugs for my dry eyes and  take Pilocarpine for my dry mouth.  Does anyone else out there have both?

Hello and welcome to Sjogren's World, Marcy (or Alex or Davis LOL)

It's not uncommon to have more than one AI, and it's always a challange to tell which disease is responsible for which symptom, but since the treatments all seem to overlap as well, at least the symptoms are being treated!

While I don't have RA, I do have a few other immune diseases, and the symptoms overlap from one to another, but the treatment for SjS (Plaquenil, Prednisone and Methotrexate) seems to cover them all.

Hi Marcy  :)

Welcome to Sjogen's world.  :)

I also do NOT have RA but there are people who use the forum who have both diseases. Like Linda said, AI diseases often seem to travel in packs. I don't have RA but I do have positive bloodwork for lupus and also AI thyroid disease.

I thinks its often really hard to work out what is causing which symptoms, so the most important thing is to rtreeat the symptoms and try to get some relief.

take care - Scottie  :)
