Hi everyone!
About 3 weeks ago, I noticed I had the sensation that something was stuck in my throat (like one of those big vitamin C pills). This past Thursday, I noticed a lump the size of a grape just to the right of the base of my throat. It doesn't hurt, unless I push on the lump, and my throat doesn't hurt, but that sensation is really annoying. Has anyone else gotten a lump like this?
I have an appt with a GP tomorrow, I made it because my glands in my neck are still a little swollen and sore from when I had my cold/infection in January/Feb.
Hi gsmraxe,
I know what you mean about something being stuck in the throat feeling; I got that when my thyroid developed a goiter. It was not fun, so I can sure empathize!
Good luck at the doctors and let us know what he says about that lump and the sore glands.
Take care and hang in there -

Hi gsmraxe :)
That happened to me when my thyroid first kicked off as well. I thought I was coming down with flu but it didn't 'get there'. Felt rough though and so did my throat. Then I felt like i had bread stuck down it or something and then I noticed a lump at one side and headed to the doc.
hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Good luck at the doc's. Keep us posted. (One thing - if it is your thyroid - the meds can make you feel a whole lot better!)
Take care - Scottie :)

Well the antibiotics the GP gave me did nothing. I'm starting to sprout little lumps at the front part of my throat now. I go tomorrow for blood tests and a chest xray. Next week, it's an ENT. I can only assume that the tomorrow tests will go back to the GP and I'll have to go back there to get results. Luckily this doesn't hurt, and I feel fine otherwise. it's mostly very annoying :D When I bend forward I feel like I'm being impaled.
One thing is for sure, once this is over with, I don't ever want to see another doctor for as long as I live. I'm running the course, seeing every doctor in the south part of san diego. Or at least it feels like it sometimes. :-\
Hi :)
Again - if it is your thyroid - it could change shape. You can get what's called a multinodular goitre and the nodules can enlarge and subside and they show up on an ultrasound scan. Usually if one has Hashimoto's thyroiditis (autoimmune) - one gets what is called a 'diffuse' goitre - but I didn't - I got a multinodular one.
The round of docs and tests is frustrating. If it does turn out to be thyroid - I'd try to see an endocrinologist with it.
Good luck and keep us posted. Glad its not making you feel iller.
Take care - Scottie :)
