Hi everyone,
This is the second time this has happened to me and was wondering if anyone can relate. I was fine yesterday and when I woke up this morning out of nowhere, I had the chills, fever, lymph glands in my neck and glands in my face, and all of my muscles, were so painful. My chest was burning when I took a breath. As the day progressed the pain went away, and now I am left with the pain when I inhale and am very hot. This has happened twice in the past couple of months. It feels like I am coming down with a horrible flu, and then it pretty much goes away.

This is exactly what happened to me at New Year. My GP ordered blood tests which showed ESR 108, from which other bloods were done and the diagnosis of SS on 5th March. I'm also wondering if sudden flu symptoms (one moment I was enjoying New Year's Eve with family, the next I was in bed, too ill to even wait up for midnight!) are the way a flare starts. Anyone else find this? xx Ailsa
Hi Designer :)
To me it sounds like a 'flare'. Flares can be short lived or last for days, weeks or months. I hope yours is a short one and that you feel better soon.
Take care - Scottie :)
Thanks for the replies. I guess I didn't even think of this as a "flare." But now that you mentioned it, makes sense to me. What bothers me the most is never knowing when it will happen. And since it comes on so quickly you have no time to prepare. Ok, so I like to be prepared for emergenices LOL But seriously, it always happens when I am out of groceries. Then I need to send my husband to the store, and I feel guilty, you know the rest of the story. ::)

Hi Designer,
I too have had the "day bug", and it would go away after a day or two; it's very strange, but I do feel washed out for another day or two after. For me it tends to herald something else brewing, wether it's SJS, or something else, the rheumy doesn't seem to know either, yet anyway.
Take care -

Yeah, I can relate. One night I had terrible chills, my hands burned, nausea, feverish, no appetite and then it went away. I'm never sure if it is just a bug or my own immune system deciding to go on the attack.

Doncha hate that?? This was an everyday thing for me for quite some time! I would start the day thinking there was no way I'd be able to get up, ( feeling feverish, stiff neck, that achey my skin hurts feeling), and do everything because I was sure I had the flu, and then it would go away by 10:30. 11 am.
Hasn't happened lately, but I sure had my time with that one! :P
Well, glad I am not losing it. Sounds like this is another SS problem. I had it for one day then felt better yesterday. Today, same thing. And yes Missy, the stiff neck and everything hurts. Maybe I will have a good day tomorrow since it is going one on one off LOL
