Title: I couldn't believe my ears!
Post by: Epson on March 05, 2009, 01:52:41 PM
Yesterday, I went for my chemo treatment and I was surprised to hear my doctor tell me that I have been through a lot and shouldn't feel ashamed if I am feeling depressed.  He told me that cancer takes a physical and mental toll on people.

Why he told me this, I have no idea, but it's nice to see that some doctors still have some human compassion.  I new I liked him when he trough an F bomb the first time I met him.  That was when he was telling what pain in butt bladder cancer is, the word was used appropriately, now that I am going through it I can't think of any nice word to describe what this nightmare is like.

The good news is everything went much better this time, but next week he is going to remove the stent and give me my treatment, that's the bad news.

Hi Epson

Isn't it amazing what a difference it can make when a doctor shows just a bit of humanity?  The mystery is why so few of them are able/bothered to do so.

I'm so glad that things went better this time.  Try not to think about next week's instalment ...

Take good care of your dear self

All I can say is, hang onto that doc! They come so rarely! My GP is this way (he came to the hospital and prayed for my Dad when he was sick), and that's why he's been my doctor since I was a kid.

...and Epson your Doctor is so right, you have been to heck and back lately, but you have been so brave all the way.   if your feeling down now you certainly have the right to start  feeling a little sorry for yourself and need a little  pampering.  We are with you in spirit, mopping your brow and stroking your hair lad.
Hope you keep this Doc throughout the remainder of treatment. All the best , chin up!  Dolly

How are you holding up Epson? I'm so darn busy with my dear Mom's cancer nightmare I don't get  visit often, I do say prayers for you though and hope things are starting to go a little better for you. I hate the C word. Keep posting and know what your doctor said is right and allow yourself to be PO'ed, mostly keep in touch with everyone who loves you for the support you need and deserve. Sandra

It's so nice to get little pieces of goodness amongst all that nastiness. I'm so glad this doc is a good one.

Really a relief to hear everything went better this time. I'm sorry about the next treatment. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the first one. We'll all be thinking of you.

Hey Epson,

Wow, keep that doctor if you can!  Someone that actually cares, I'm jealous!

Remember, one day at a time my sharp tooth friend, one day at a time; and I sure will keep the digits crossed for you too!

Take care -

Patze

Epson, You are such a survivor. Also, I am really glad that you got a doc who talked to you like he was human. It makes life so much easier when the docs come down to earth. Will keep you in my prayers about this treatment. Hopefully, it will not be as bad as the first time. Keep it up. :) Irish ;D

Hi Epson

I am glad you have a human dr... that can mean a big difference in how you feel about everything...

My family has had to deal with a lot of cancer (3 in my family out of 8) and boy is it tough.... hang in there it seems the more positive you are the better you feel... depression is a very biggie with it...for you and your family members both... Take care and Take one day at a time... I am hoping you the best for your treatment next week.

Take care,
Carrottop50

Epson,
I am so happy to hear that a doctor cared about you as a whole.  This is the second discussion I have read today where the doctors have actually been caring and interested in their patients!  YEAH!  I know you are still struggling and have a ways to go, hang in there.  We all care about you too.

Epson - both at the same time?  This is beginning to have a Monty Python ring to it.  'The Cheesegrater of Life' that was lurking at the back of the cheese shop in the famous sketch, just waiting for the cheddar cheese which there was 'no call for'.  When you spot a dead parrot you should begin to worry ...

Take care

Even on the computer screen you seem to sound in a lot better spirits...

I am so glad for that...you are a boost to us all...and hope in some small way

I can do the same for you. Thank you.

Epson:

Dr. Watson who is an expert in Sjs told me he had a patient with lupus who developed cancer.  The chemo not only got rid of the cancer but cured her lupus also!

I am hoping for the best for you, of course!

Sue,

That fantastic, but I was born under a dark cloud, on Halloween and that cloud seems to follow my every where, keeps life interesting.  I'll be happy if I can stop the cancer from coming back.

My chemo treatment is inserted directly into the bladder, so I don't expect anything more than stopping the formation of new tumors.

Ouch again!

Since I met my husband I don't think I've ever taken so much notice of another man's nether regions!  ;)

Take care - Scottie  :)
