I finally went to John Hopkins in Maryland for my apt today and I am going to be in a new test study for a new eye drop for dry eyes, its subposed to be better than retasis. I can't wait. It will be for 2 months they will pay for all tests and meds. and even parking. Its two hours away. but it will be so worth it. its every week. Its such good news. I have such dry eyes I feel so honored that she asked me to be in the study. She also told me to wash my eyes at night with this stuff she said she uses it to take her makeup off. and its mild. I know I have heard from this site that baby shampoo works also. and put hot compresses on them. and told me I should only use my eye drops only 8 times a day. boy I use them so much more. Does any one know anything about a mask for your eyes that you can put in the mi rowave? Please let me know.

I use a rice-baggy that I bought at the dry eye zone store . It's rice in a hand-sewn rectangular pouch, comes with a cover. Very soft and soothing. I zap it for 45 sec, but the time you use depends on your microwave. It's not an eye-mask but it has a nice weight and stays warms for about 10-15 minutes. http://www.dryeyeshop.com/ and follow links to Eyelid Spa/Warm Compresses. There are 3 kinds.
You can make your own by putting rice in a lightweight sock and tying off the end.

I felt so excited for you while reading the post and jealous at the same time. :) Please, please give us all the details as soon as you have some. I have very, very dry eyes, as well. Also, I use the rice baggy too and it helps.

Thanks for all the replies, Calli, I love the one about the rice, Thanks I will try it out it sounds great. I will also let my mom know about it. she uses thing thing for her arms. I will keep all informed on this study I am so excited because I need all the help with my eyes. My husband wasn't to excited about having to travel that far every week Boo Hoo. John Hopkins is such a big place. Baltimore is. So many people. Thank goodness my daughter took me. she is a doll. she knows now how bad my eyes are. Its nice when you take some one that loves you into the Dr's. It seems like they understand more She came in with me to the Dr's. and took notes. We have so much snow here but its going to be 70 on sunday. But I am sure its going to be muddy. Well I had better go I have lots of things that need to be done around here.

That's such good news! Like many of the others say, I'm really jealous but I don't think that the good old British NHS would pay for me to fly to Baltimore. Let us know how the next visit goes.

Congrats on getting into the study. I'm curious, what is the name of the drug they are trying?
I am curious, also, as to the name of the drug they are using. I know dryeyezone has a list of drugs in clinical trial.
