My thought is if it lasts for about a week without improvement every other day...

it might just be the Flu...Sjogren's has a way of letting you feel a little better

for a few hours then flooring ya....don't think the Flu lets up till it's over..maybe I'm

wrong..but just my thought.

Never know...I've had three day and I'm just for the first time going through a three week

one. I only have myself to blame on it though...been stressing a lot lately and have a new

stress situation I need to get capped off before I make this a 4 or 5 week flare. Sorry I

can't be of more help....I think it just depends on the person..their situation...and their stress.

Theresa, JJ is right... No two people are the same with this curse... I have had days when it just hits me in the mornings, then by aftenoon the symptoms can
just fade away.

Others can have bad days for weeks.    Same goes with the symptoms.. they vary from person  to person.   I think that it being to do with the Immune system that one can get trouble in just about every part of the body..
Sorry to spell it out so bluntly, one just gets used to knowing what is their Sjogrens and what is a different complaint... I might add that just by having a cold can bring out the Sjogrens symptopms...   Best wishes Dolly.

Theresa,
Do you have a fever?  Usually with the flu you will have a tempature, not always, but most of the time.

I know we all run a low grade fever now and then, but I'm talking 100 or 101.

Of course, Fibro can also act like a Sjs flare, so it could be either.  I'm sure over time you will get to know what is what and deal with it accordingly.  For any Sjs flare I feel coming on my rheumy gave me a prescription for Prednisone that I take for 5 days when I feel it building up.  Usually that stops it.

I hope you find relief soon from whichever it is.  Hang in there.

Theresa,
It is really difficult at first to tell the difference between a flare and a whole range of other illnesses.  When I was first ill, I put every ailment down to SJS, but now, several years on, I can usually tell the difference, but don't ask me how.

I hope that whatever you have is a virus of some sort and that it passes soon.  I have had flares that last a few hours and others that have last months - a virus is preferable because it may well pass quicker.  Hope you feel better soon.

I just heard on TV the other day....  There was some doctor on and she said that if you have the flu it is always respiratory and that if you only feel sick at your stomach it is not the flu but more like something you ate.  My husband and just looked at each.... we had ever heard it put that way before.   But our grandkids have been sick lately... sick at their stomach and it last only about 12 hours or so .... I would say that must not be the flu... I told my daughter that her daughters have been too sick too often... 2 or 3 times in a month so I told her I bet it was something they ate (these young kids eat out a lot).

Now to answer your question.... I personally don't know if I have ever had the flu or I got it and ever got over it ... :)    because I have lots of areas that sjogrins or something had affected.... I have irratiable bowel, fibro, lungs/shortness of breath, RA, which can all feel like the flu so I am told.

Hope someone out there can better answer this question for you.
