Title: Diet/Hormones
Post by: OrlandoJohn on February 19, 2009, 07:36:21 AM
Has anyone noticed a correlation between specific foods or menstrual cycle and the severity of their symptoms?

My wife has primary with CNS involvement.  It seems like every time she eats tomato sauce, she has an increase in symptoms within hours... she seems to have an increase in severity at the start of her period as well.

Is this common... or am I just drawing conclusions that aren't there?

Well, I have not noticed a difference when I eat something or my menstral cycle comes on.  Perhaps a bit more tired with menstral, but that always is a given I think with anyone woman with or without Sjogrens.  I do follow a renal diet for my kidneys and some foods affect my kidney function.

I would keep a food diary of what she eats. If I noticed this, I would bring it up to my doctor.

Hopefully one of the others can have a better answer for you. Take Care!
