I just got engaged :)
I've been learning, it is possible to be sick and still be happy. Often times, it's hard to deal with, but it is possible.
CONGRATULATIONS, NATHAN!
And very best wishes to the future Mrs. Nathan!
I like your comment about being possible to be sick and still be healthy...very profound, and well worth learning and remembering.
Nathan, Way to go, dude!!!! It is so good that you have gotten to this point in your life in spite of a chronic illness. Yes, you do deserve to be happy. Plan your life sensibly and you and your gal will do fine. Irish ;D
CONGRATULATIONS NATHAN!
Way to go!!! ;D

Congratulations! ;D All us sjoggy women here have years and year and years and years and years and years of advise on marriage, all you have to do is ask. Years of wisdom has taught us not to offer any advise. So just ask........ were here waiting. :) Just ask....

MANY CONGRATS NATHAN TO YOU BOTH
You've warmed my heart too with your positivity - now come on, spill the beans, as someone who loves all things sparkly - what's the ring like?!!!!!
Wen x
congratulations! always nice to hear good news on the boards
Congratulations Nathan, I hope you and yours will be very happy for a long, long time.
I wish you as many years as I've had with my husband. We will celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary in September. It hasn't all been wine and roses, but the hard times bring us closer.
My one piece of advice from an oldie, Never go to bed angry, always say "I love you" before going to sleep. Mainly because in the morning, you won't remember what it was you were unhappy about anyway. Things always look better in the morning.
Again, congratulations. Be happy, be loving and considerate.

That's for sure. We both have fog/memory issues, so that's actually really good advice ;D
We're still working on the details, dates and such. We're probably not going to have a huge wedding. The ring is a bit... humble, but it will do for now! (We're probably going to update them in a few years)
But thank you all for your kind words, advice and support. It means a great deal to me.
Congratulations, Nathan!
Memory/fog issues could be positive in a relationship, as long as you've both got them! And as long as you always remember why you love and chose each other.
And 'humble' is good. We got the cheapest of cheap wedding rings - 30 years ago this July - and never changed them. It's the memories, not the financial value, that give rings their meaning.
Wishing you both a lifetime of loving support - and fun!
Nathan, my husband and I eloped with rings for both of us, that cost about $40 altogether. Then on our 5th Annv. and our 2 sons looking on, he gave me a set of diamonds. I wear the wedding set and my original wedding band together.
We wanted to see if the marriage would work before we spent all that money. :D I guess it did, here we are still together. ;D
Good luck and God Bless you both,
Pooh
CONGRATULATIONS NATHAN-
My engagement ring cost $126 and it came out of the joint account we set up for wedding expenses. My bridesmaids, just 3, made their own dresses from fabric we found on sale, and our reception was in the church hall catered at $6.59 per person (this was 25 years ago, but even then that was cheap).
Like Pooh, my marriage has not been all wine and roses, we've had some pretty darn tough patches. But you and your fiance have the advantage of knowing about your medical issues going into the marriage. So many of us got hit with it sometime after the I do's when "for sickness and in health" gets stretched a bit.
Best of luck to you and I hope you have along, happy marriage,
Tracy
BEST WISHES FOR A GREAT FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nathan
We were broke when we were planning our wedding in 1975. My ring cost 12 pounds in sterling money - cheap even then. It was so thin, we thought we would have to replace it within a year or two. Guess what, in our 34th year, the pattern is still there and it looks as good as new.
Who needs expensive jewellerhy anyway - it's what it signifies that's important.

Nathan, What lovely news among all the doom and gloom.... Love carries us through all.. My warmest congratulations to you both..
Hip Hip Hooray!!!
Cheers Dolly x
CONGRATULATIONS Nathan! You are one lucky fellow and she will always be happy if you never forget that!

CONGRATULATIONS NATHAN!!!
My free advice for you . . . communication, communication, communication. Don't assume the other knows how you feel - even after dropping all the hints you can think of to let them know . . . talk about it, plain and simple. Talk, talk, talk . . . . a couple hugs and I love you's in there don't hurt either. ;D
Have fun planning for the wedding (although, as a guy, you probably just have to show up on THE day) - just remember, as much excitement that there is on the wedding day, it's the FROM THIS DAY FORWARD that matters the most.
May you and your bride-to-be have a lifetime of love and happiness together.
Bucky
Congratulation on your engagement to both of you.
Hugs
Gerri
Nathan,
That's fantastic, we married people are always jealous of swinging singles. That's all about to change my man ;D
There it is great advice, Epson just said it, read between the lines..........Do not quit swinging when you get married. Don't let the intensities of life suck the joy and sense of humor out of your marriage. Never quit dating always take time to nurture your relationship by continuing to date and spend time together.
Good job Epson ;D

Oh, definitely. We both talk all day, every day. Even if we aren't together, we're furiously texting back and forth just to keep in touch.
We both have our medical issues, but as it was said above, it's good we both know what we're getting into. There aren't any surprises here.
A pair of family rings for her appeared last minute, so we ended up using those. We tied the knot last night, rather ironically at a local hospital's chapel (So my dad could come. He has Sarcoidosis, and has been in the hospital since November following various bowel/pancreas issues.) We sort of threw it together last minute, but we still had quite the showing. My grandfather presided over the wedding as the minister, and it was overall, a huge blast.
We're actually going to have another much bigger ceremony/reception later, when everyone is healthy again (both sides have a number of sick people right now), which is going to be the big performance. I really look forward to it.
kimbo: That isn't a worry. She is the source of my joy and humor. So long as I am with her, I can't be unhappy. We still date regularly, and plan to continue!
Thank you all so much again. Your love and support means the world. If you could keep us in your prayers for health, and a happy marriage, I would greatly appreciate it.
Nathan
you just made me cry :) , i know there are health issues and right now your putting the big bash on hold, but there is something wildly romantic and your story and i truly wish you both every happiness possible, she sounds like your best friend and your everything, your rich and blessed both of you , cherish it

Nathan,
Wow . . you don't waste any time when you get engaged!! CONGRATULATIONS on your marriage!! ;D
That is nice that your Dad was able to be there and your Grandfather presided over the ceremony. That must have been special for you.
Much happiness to you and your new bride. ;D
Bucky
Congratulations on your marriage Nathan!
Wow...you two didn't waste any time.... ;)!
I wish you both much love and happiness.....and I'm glad that you were able to have your family and especially your dad there as well. What a wonderful idea to have it in the hospital chapel with your grandfather as the minister....that's very special!
Happy Valentines Day to you both!
