Interesting day of a person with SjS. Started out with the Rheumy and that was a story in itself. You just have to laugh. This guy gets so distracted that before I know it he is talking about accounting.
I tell him my blood pressure seems high, he starts to write numbers on paper, and then puts it down saying, "I was never very good with math." Then he starts out asking me questions like he has never seen me in his life! So I decided that I was going to press him hard for answers. Oh well, I tried. We finally got to the reason I was there, the Lichen Planus in my mouth. He called my dermatologist and sent me over there(half hour away), and I had to wait in her office for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Only to be told that I need to see an oral surgeon, which she kindly made an appt. for me to get a biopsy.
I just have to say that whatever I asked my Rheumy, he just didn't know. Even though I am trying to keep my sense of humor, its frustrating. Maybe its frustrating for them too. I just get the feeling that they really do not understand this sjogrens very well. He knows I have it and is giving me some meds for my mouth, but hesitates at this time to give me anything stronger, due to side effects.
So, more bloodwork papers.
I do have one question. My test came back a few months ago as Rheumatoid factor/positve. The Rheumy said that does not mean that you have RA. It just means that something is going on in your body. I guess I had always thought wrong. Any comments on that one?
Thanks for listening, again. I can really see that this is ONE day at a time.
Designer ;D
Sorry you had such a rough day of it. The one thing I can tell you is that you can have a positive RA factor and not have RA. I have a positive RA factor but I have Osteoarthritis not Rheumatoid. I'm sure someone else can explain better than I can.
I hope after all of this you get the test results on your mouth real soon. Waiting for results is the worse part of this mess.
Take care,
Pooh
Hi Designer,
I too am sorry that you've had such a tough day! Ah, your rheumy is a bit different isn't he?
Good luck with the test results!
Take care and keep us updated, okay?
