Oh no.....I just found my almost empty Restasis vial under the sofa. What should I do? She is only 15 lbs! Does anyone know if this is dangerous???
Restasis is cyclosporin A. You could call the vet and see if it is a problem. The drug is used systemically in human transplant patients to prevent rejection. I doubt that there will be a problem and if there is at this point I don't know what can be done to fix it.

Oh thank you. I've been frantic as I just found it 5 minutes ago. I just did a search and it's OK for dogs....but not really ;)
Thank you!

i shouldnt think so , cyclosporin is used systemically, and for prolonged peroids, as it was almost empty is guess not, id say withhold food, means the body then is only taking in fluid and not having added strain of processing the food, just for 24 hours, they recommend fasting a dogs once a month to clear it out anyways so wont do the dog harm, and plenty fresh water to shift it , thoughts with you as i know pets are babies in disguise :)

Clementine,
If you have any yogurt, give your pup a couple tablespoons of that. It will coat it's stomach and also soothe anything that may occur. It also has healing properties in it for the stomach. I really don't think your dog got enough of it do any harm.
At age 4 my granddaughter ate a whole tube of horse wormer and had no effects from it. We sure didn't have to worry about her having worms. :D
If you are still worried, by all means call your vet and check with them, but the yogurt should do the trick.

Your granddaughter eating the whole tube! It makes me want a taste just to see what made it that tasty

Just wanted to add - my opthamologist said that there are 8 drops of restasis in one vial. He said this medicine is like fertilizer for your goblet cells that produce mucus - a necessary component of tear film. The more you use it, the more the goblet cells grow back. So when you open a vial, use put the drops in your eyes, then put the vial standing up (you can put it in a medicine cup to stand it up) and put it in the refrigerator. Later in the day use the rest of the drops. He did not mention that it also avoids the stress that is incurred when your dog chews up an old vial.

I wouldn't worry too much, my dog use to eat my homework when I was a kid and it just made him smarter. :D
