Title: Think my party's over
Post by: wen.uk on January 11, 2009, 09:42:01 AM
Hi everyone
I know you've shared my happiness and relief these past couple of months that I have been very well and practically sympton free - I've had a bit of my life back how it used to be pre SjS.

As the saying goes though, all good things must come to an end and I think that end is now approaching. This past week I feel as though my batteries are running out and aren't recharging as they have been. On Friday in work I was having dizzy spells and could have just gone to sleep on my desk. Yesterday didn't feel 100% and took my Mum out for lunch as she goes in hospital this week for her cataracts done, come mid afternoon I just had to get home as felt so
bad.

I couldn't move the rest of the day with the dizziness. I've had a lie in and a very easy day today and the dizziness has subsided just feel muzzy and fatigued. I'm so gragteful for been well over Christmas and new year, but I'm only human and just wish it could have continued for a little longer. Looks like it's back to my faithful friend the settee for a while, I've got to go in work tomorrow as my colleague is on holiday and there is no-one else to cover so I'll leave my jamis on the radiator for when I get home as a huge treat.

Hope eveyone else is as well as they possibly can be.

Wen x

HI Wen

I'm sorry to hear that. It's sad that we have to be so grateful for being able to live a 'normal' life. Let's hope it's just a bug or something.
Take care.

Aww Wen, sorry it came to such an abrupt end.  Yep, Sjs has a way of putting a kink in all our lives.  It's so great that you had such a good holiday.  I too hope you get a lot more yesterday's and not so many of today's symptoms.

I hope this is only a bump in the road and not a major repair job.  May all your tomorrows be as great as your holidays were.

Hugs, Pooh

Hi Wen  :)

If it's a flare - I hope it's a short one. Might be worth getting your ears checked. Ears and dizziness are often linked - but I'm sure you know that.

Take care - Scottie  :)

So being new  I seem to have a ton of--do you have this happen to you to questions? But I'll try to only hit up a question a day. So...do you get these totally energized days where you feel like there is nothing you can't do and then bottom out cuz you obviously did too much for days the! Like you have to learn to pace yourself and kinda not even plan ahead?  Which is totally hard to do with twin 6 yr olds and a 8 yr old who want to be entertained daily. I think they are getting used to moms terms of -if you let me get my rest then I may feel well enuf to take you whereever. Also I get put on pred a lot so I call it(secretly)  my pred highs and I actually get my carpets cleaned and do Super Mom things as my kids call it. Any body like this or just my wierd symptoms?-Net

Hi Net,
Sounds about normal to me.  :D  Or as normal as you can get with this disease and it's medications.

Hi Net  :)

I didn't have a dx when my kids were that age but I tried to guide them into activities that they enjoyed - but that I could sit and watch! Six and eight are pretty energy intensive ages!!

I took mine to swinmming clubs, gymnastic clubs, dancing lessons, basketball sessions - even a circus workshop. They kept busy, learned new skills, enjoyed themselves and I sat watching on the sidelines. It was a way of coping though.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Wen-

I agree that an ear check could be in order.  When my sinuses or ears are infected I don't even drive because of the dizziness.  It could very well be the Sjs, but it's good to check new symptom as not everything that goes wrong with us Sjoggies is actually the Sjogren's.

Net-

Pacing yourself is a hard thing to do but well worth the effort.  If I know I have a special activity or need to do a lot of shopping, I try to plan at least a few days in advance and take it easy the day before and the day after.  Maybe your kids would give you rest days if they knew you were going to do something a bit more exciting one day a week or whatever you're up to?  I wasn't diagnosed when I had my kids, either.  6 yo twins and an 8 year old can be tiring without Sjogren's!
Never be afraid to ask a question here, that's why we're all here, to share information.

My best to both of you,
Tracy

Hi all

Many thanks for all your kind words and good wishes - as always it's sooo appreciated.  The dizziness isn't as bad as over the weekend thank goodness and I have managed to work since Monday.  Just feeling tired and struggling a little at the moment so I've got in from work and done as little as possible to hopefully help me from feeling any worse.

Net .... the fatigue is one of the worse problems I have with SjS and I just can't imagine how hard it is for you coping with 2 young children too.  I do try to consider things when forward planning but its very difficult when you don't know how you are going to feel from one day to the next.  Take care hun.

Wen, I sure hope you start feeling better soon...I know right now my pain is way out of control, but I at least know the reason.  Have you considered going to the doctor yet,  you may have an ear infection or possibly some kind of equilibrium problem .

Well wishes, Cortnee'

Hi Wen,
You should take the dizziness and equilibrium or balance seriously.  You can perform a variety of tests on yourself.  You may want to get a friend or someone to help though, if you have that option.  You can even use some DUI tests to gauge your level of impairment.  Please don't think that I am implying that self diagnosis is the way to go, but rather it gives you information you can take with you to your appointments with your MD.  It will help you speak intelligently with your MD or his staff either to schedule an appointment or during your examination. ???
I wish you well, and hope your symptoms subside, maybe this is just a minor flare up. :)

Good luck,
Nadmcd
