Title: Sjogrens Jewerly
Post by: trector1955 on January 07, 2009, 09:18:24 PM
Hello
I have a really good idea its 12:09 at night and I had to write it down or would have forgotten my husband is ready to get me.
I make and design Jewelry . Do we as Sjogrens Patients have any Jewelry? Like a cancer bracelet. I know I gave my daughters a beautiful cancer bracket last year. It could have a symbol on it. I have a store on a really cool handmade site, I am not sure but I will check to see if I can put part of the proceeds to Sjogrens work.I know e-bay can put part of your proceeds to cancer. We as Sjogrens patients need to get ourself out there. There are more people with immune disease than there are with cancer and heart together. So Do I have a good Idea or is some one else doing this. Can some one give me any ideas or details. I can make some really cool designs for us Sjogens.
Thanks for listening.

Sounds like a winner to me.  Just thought I would let you know that the color for Sjogren's Syndrome is Periwinkle.

And I think, but don't quote me on this, that the logo is a tear drop.

Hello
Thanks for the fasy reply. I am so excited about this. I am going to do some research about this and when I make the bracklets I am going to send one to Oprah, ect. to see if we can get some stuff going. These bracklets will be so pretty. I will find out how much the materals are and make them and give the labor cost to Sjogrens  I have tryed in the past to get us on the Oprah show. so Dr. Oz can let the public know more about us but maybe this will help. I will sned one to Ellen also. and The View ladies. We need to do something. Maybe some one will pick up on this. If their are any Jewerly makers out there please let me know.

Double Good Luck with Oprah Theresa.  We have tried time and time again to get her to acknowledge anything.  Even our letters.  NOTHING!  Let us know if you get through.

Theresa,

We once had this discussion about Sjogren's jewelry and decided that a sterling silver Popsicles stick would our symbol since a lot out us eat Popsicles to sooth our dry and hot mouth.  For those who like Bling, maybe some periwinkle saphires, but then again some of us are mentally unstable and take a lot of prescription medicines, so you might want to turn a deaf ear to our suggestions.

Espon
You are pretty funny. I am still excited about my jewelry. I did some research and found out that all awareness charms are ribbons and ours are purple. I am bidding on some on e-bay now so I can make the jewelry. I don't know how many I will make or how it will turn out. I really do want to do this I need to do. I want to give something back. I can't think of anything Else I can really do. I know how to make jewelry I have a hard time seeing but I will take it slow and in good light!!!!!!
I know ebay does have a place to send some proceeds to a clarity. I sold some cancer scarves from Mary Kay once. I will check on this more. I see there is a place where they take donations on this web site. I need to do some research. I will keep all informed.

Hi, I think this is great idea... But Oprah and Ellen are big guns... Maybe start with your/our local news, the health section of the local paper etc.  It would be awesome to make it to Oprah, but small is good too.. don't you think ?

Would this have to be approved by The Sjogrens Foundation?  Just wondering.  Lucy

Just a reminder, the "official" colour for SjS is periwinkle...purple is something of an "umbrella" colour for autoimmune disease.

Interesting, I've never heard of there being a color for Sjogren's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periwinkle_(color)

It looks like we share it with Esophageal Cancer.

Hi - In the UK it's listed as blue and they sell products with blue tears on them.

Take care - Scottie  :)

oops - I very nearly posted a link then and realised it would be to a site that sells things!

I'll post a linnk for the site - not the merchandising section and if anyone wants to check it out - well - that's up to them!   :)

All right, I have given this a lot of thought, can't we be different?  I hate those colored rubber wrist band and ribbons.  Let's cut to the chase, sterling silver skull and crossbones with periwinkle saphire eyes!

You would sell a lot of them to young people and while wearing it, you know people are going to ask about it and I think you could get on the news with it.

My other idea is three monkeys (see on evil, hear no evil and speak on evil), each monkey represents one of the specialist you saw that said, I see nothing wrong with you, I can't hear you and I don't want to talk about because I don't know anything about Sjogren's and don't want to learn.  Oh, you can put saphire Bing in their eyes too.

Can't help thinking that sjoggie skulls ought to have red eyes and missing teeth!   ;D

Hi Theresa!

I've always heard that the "official" color for sjogrens is periwinkle BUT I see it listed all the time as purple being the alternative color (which is also for fibro).

I don't think I've cleared anything up for you here...just thought I would share what I have seen!

Lucy,

The folk at the Rosacea site all ready have dibs on the red nose, besides, skeletons don't have a nose.

I love the idea of the 'three monkeys aka doctors'!

How about a silver skull with odd periwinkle sapphire teeth, ruby red eyes and a big gap where the brain should be?

Hey guys
Thanks for all the cool replies. I can't wait to begin. I did order the purple ribbons on ebay they should be here soon, but i will try all your ideas too. They will be cool. Should be made I hope by the beginning of Feb. My income tax refund will be in by than. I have already filed, but they don't take them until the 16. But I am early. I save all my receipts all year for this time and it really helps.
Thanks so much Theresa

Epson-

You just gave me my first good laugh of the day!

Scottie - your laugh came right after Epson's.

Just for the record - I went for my first dental cleaning in a year (got pushed back due to surgery) and I only had one cavity (and yes, I have more than one tooth!)

On a more serious note - I would love to see some jewelry for Sjogren's and NOT a plastic wrist band. Thanks Theresa,
Tracy

I found this, seems to be more confusing, but I thought it was worth your reviewing:

I hope this helps, Cortnee'

Let me know if you need any help with graphics.  Its my job!  :)

OH... maybe we can get the pantone number for periwinkle so everyone knows which blue/purple it actually is.
