Hello everyone!
Sorry it has taken me so long to post, but I am just now able to sit up for short periods of time. I had surgery 8:50 Friday December 19th. The first week I thought I was going to die...I hated the pain. I kept telling my mom that I wanted to go back and i didn't want to do this anymore! She of course reminded me that it was a bit to late for that.
The surgery went well, better than expected the surgeon told my mom. They had to cut though some really tight muscles and I could be in pain for a while...at least s good 2-3 months. I had to finally ask for a muscle relaxer that could make my spasms go away and he gave me soma's. I'm a bit worried about that because of my cousin that is addicted to them. I suppose being scared is a good thing.
Let?s see. I was in the hospital until December 24th, so I got to spend the holiday with my family which was such blessing for me and my whole family. Everyone kept commenting on how they couldn't believe I was up walking around. I'm a fighter not a quitter and I have to prevail! Now that things have settled down a bit, I am feeling better and honestly its just surgical pain I am feeling. I pray that this is my miracle surgery for my back pain. I have such a great family.
Mom took off the week between Christmas and New Year and then my husband has taken off this week. I am supposed to be able to drive now but I am scared I can?t turn around as good as I would like to so I am still waiting on that one.
The scar is about 9 inches long and they did have to go into my tattoo and his NP told me a funny story about him sewing me back up. He said to everyone, now ALL of you be quite and turn off the music, I have to perform a work of art to get this tattoo back together and he did a great job!
I have had some serious bad news about my injections I had received before the back surgery and come to find out I owe them 9 thousand dollars!! I cant believe this how do they let someone get so far into dept before saying anything. This kind of stress I do not need right now while I am trying to recover.
I have some questions about some SjS blood work I got back and will post about that in a few days. I?ve missed you all and thanks for all over your positive thoughts and prayers, they WORKED! I am in less pain than I was before so I have real hope now.

Cortnee, Glad to hear that you got through the surgery and are doing well. Pain is to be expected with most surgery and none of us like it!!! When the time comes that your pain is less, etc ask your doc how to taper down to get off of the soma. It can be a concern about getting habituated to meds, but right now you need them.
As you get more mobile and your notice things becoming more normal you may find it easier to just put off taking a pill for while and just get off of them yourself. My hubby was on morphine for 2 months and they weaned him off without any problems.
Sounds like your family has been good about taking care of things. Hang in there and soon it will be spring and you will be able to look over your shoulder!! Irish ;D
Oh Cortnee, it's so good to have you back. I'm so happy the pain has lessened and I hope it leaves altogether when you finish healing.
Good that you got to spend the holidays at home with your family. Keep us updated on your progress and be careful you don't do anything to undo the great surgery.
Take care and don't push yourself to much, rest when you have to and we'll be here when you are ready.

Glad that you're back, Cortnee and progressing well. I was very happy to read about the family support that you've received. How did your son react to the news that you were having (another) surgery? I know you were very concerned about his reaction prior to your hospitalization. Take care.

Glad to hear that the surgery is over, that the surgeon said it went well and that you got to spend Christmas with your family. That's good.
I realise it's a different bit of the body but I had knee surgery a couple of years ago and I would say that it was a good two to three months before the op pain subsided. It faded - and was so much less than the pain had been before hand after less than a month! I hope you heal well.

Lana, Jake did great and was even happy that I didn't tell him, i was shocked. He said it helped him to not have any stress and anxiety about my surgery, go figure!
