G'day all, in many of my posts, I have advocated not giving up and to keep pushing for the answers. We all have been frustrated by doctors who refuse, for what ever the reason, to take Sjogren's seriously. My latest battle was with my previous Rhuemy. I asked him if there was any medication that would help with the chronic fatigue that go's along with SjS. From this forum I had learned about Provigil and Plaquenil. His answer was "I would just have to live with it.? I was floored by that answer. Sounds familiar doesn't it? I have been suffering from SjS (to my knowledge) since the early 90's. It's taken me this long to get where I am now in my treatment. Mainly because of my own research and my family here in this forum. So I pushed my GP into getting me a referral to another Rhuemy. I saw this new Rhuemy about two weeks ago. What a difference. He liked to do his own look sees, so I had to run through another gauntlet of tests. (Oh boy!). Today I saw him for the results. He confirmed I have primary SJS (no surprise there). But he also found that I have Hashimoto's Thyroid. Then he actually gave me treatment options. I have been place on thyroid therapy and Plaquenil. I wrote all of this to say to all of you, who are searching for answers, DON'T GIVE UP!!! It's taken me 15+ years to get this far in my treatment. So take it from me Don't give up and keep pushing for the answers.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas

Congrats on taking the initiative to get the answers and treatment you deserve; it just goes to show, the answers and treatments are out there; we just have to keep pushing, and demanding we get the answers and treatment we deserve and need.
Have a Merry Christmas

Hi Seeker,
Isn't it sad that you'd have to go to another rheumy? Dang, were do they find these doctors at? ::) Anyway, I'm glad that this new rheumy seems to care and you're so lucky!!!!
Have a great Holiday season!

Seeker,
I only wish that your story was was one that so many of us had not experianced, but you are right, don't give up!
That's wonderful to hear Seeker. I strongly agree with you. Don't ever give up, don't let this disease win.
And never, ever lose your sense of humor. ;D With this my rheumy strongly agrees. :D
When he told last week that Sjs had given me something else (Raynaud's) I told him "Aww gee, and I didn't get him anything for Christmas, he shouldn't have." My rheumy just laughed and said "Don't ever lose that sense of humor. It will help you win over this disease."
Merry Christmas and a Healthier Happy New Year all,
Pooh
