Title: Fevers- do you get them?
Post by: Lowell on November 20, 2008, 11:24:05 PM
I was just wondering if anyone else suffers from fevers? Along with my other symptoms- I have had a low grade fever for 11 months now! I started on Plaquenil after I got diagnosed in August but it hasn't helped the fevers yet. My fevers come and go several times a day- so I'll have a fever for a few hours and then it will go away for a little bit and then it will come back. And quite frequently the fever doesn't come and go- it lasts all day long.

Of all my symptoms the fever is really getting to me. It's not my most painful symptom (the joint/ bone pain is) but it's really the most dibilitating. When I have a fever (which is for at least 5/6 hours a day if not more) I can't do anything except lie down.

I would really love to hear from anyone else who experiences this. Thanks!

All my best,
Lowell

Lowell,

I get fevers at times.  I can work all day and come home and start shivering so bad that I can't keep still.  My fever last betweeen 4-6 hours and it goes away like nothing happened....only to come back the following evening.  I am lucky in that this doesn't happen everyday....but it happens every couple of months for 2-4 days in a row.

I was told it was because of a flare up.  I sure hope you can get them under control.  It isn't quite like a normal fever, is it?

Take Care!
Vicky

Hi Lowell

Sorry to hear that you're such hot stuff at the moment!!!  During my last flare I would have fevers too, they would almost feel like hot flushes but different somehow.  My GP couldn't give me the reason why, just said that it was all part of the course for SjS when having a flare.  Some days I can alternate between being burning hot then freezing cold - boy this illness has me that I don't know which way I am up!!!

I get fevers too.  It leaves me feeling "wrung out' and exhausted.  Not all the time, but off and on, like you say.  It IS different from hot flashes, but hard to explain the difference.

I too have these fevers that come and go.  Mostly they are associated with flares, stress or overactivity.  Like Victoria it alternates between the fever and chills.  One minute I'm burning up, then the next minute I'm piling on sweaters or sweat shirts.  If I could manage at times, I would put gloves on. ::)

This disease sure is frustrating and we really have to be tough to cope with it's gifts from day to day.  It just seems to be to, to generous. :(

Take care all and hang in there, don't let this disease WIN!

Hugs, Pooh

Hello
I have the problem of hot and cold at the same time.!!! Its so weird. I am so hot I can't stand it but I have goose bumps cuz my skin is so cold. This has been happening for years. it comes and goes. with it comes the tiredness etc. I never knew what this was before. I thought I was going crazy. most people think its just the change of life. But I know better. It is so cold in my house. and thats with $300 and $400 heating bills. So we freeze. and we only have a tiny house one floor. I hate it I can get so hot at night I take my blankets off and my husband thinks I am crazy. My temp. changes so much. but the worst part of ss is the changes in my eyes. they change in a blink I need to think of my next step with these eyes. I have had plugs and take restat-is. and eye drops all the time its driving me crazy. But I am still trying to be positive. I know some one Else needs more than me. I am really blessed with my kids and two grandchildren and husband. Hope the best for everyone. I know what pain can be.

Hi, I have fevers, low grade almost every day.  Mostly when I am working and active.  They are worse during a flare.  I even sweat with my fevers  and then have problems with yeast infections.  Mine are always around 99.4 degrees.  If they go higher then I get worried about infection. It's a real pain...haha.  My primary md states it just goes with having a collagen vascular disorder.  I don't know how it could be good for me though.....to me it proves my body is fighting against itself.  I am on all the meds.. sometimes you just wonder if there is anything else going on.        take care, April
