Title: Problem with new hair growth
Post by: Collie on November 03, 2008, 08:40:14 PM
I seem to have new hair growth all over my head and face, thank God I am blond and have light skin. My eyebrows are growing back quite blond; last year my eyebrows were almost nonexistant  and were light brown. The hair on the side of my face, by ears, has started to grow and is now several inches long, I also have new hair growing in at my hairline. At my age My hair should be getting thiner, not growing more.

I am covered in peach fuzz hair all over my body, but it is baby fine, like on a little kid. Any one else have this or know what it could be.

Hi Collie,
I'm sorry I have no idea what could be the cause of this new hair growth.  However, if you find out let me know, I want some.  Especially on my head. ;D

I'm sorry I wasn't making fun of you, but I sure would like for mine to start filling in again.  There are only so many ways to comb the hair I have to make it look fuller.  I have started wearing hats, something I have always hated.

I hope you find out what is doing this, I'm sure it is quite unsettling.

What kind of medication are you taking? Some meds can cause hair growth, like neurontin, I  believe. You can check the side effects of what you are taking to see if it is the culprit.

Otherwise you might want to get hormone levels checked, because a hormone imbalance can sometimes cause hair growth.

Hi Collie  :)

I tend to agree with Genko. Hormone imbalance was what came to my mind too. So saying - I'm not medical - so that is NOT a dx!!

Take care - Scottie  :)

I had this happen to me after being bitten by a wolf, it's only a problem during the full moon.

There is something called polycystic ovarian syndrome.  Here is a link to info.  http://www.4woman.gov/faq/polycystic-ovary-syndrome.cfm    I don't know if it applies but if you check with your doctor about the hormones perhaps he/she would know if it did.  I just noticed that hair growth was one of the symptoms.

Epson,

You make me laugh; maybe I was bitten by a wolf too. It is wonderful to see that you have a sense of humor with what you are facing, you are in my prayers.

What is really weird about the hair growth is it started at the same time I started to gain weight. I just started meds for SS about a month ago, and this hair has been growing for almost 9 months. I did have a complete hysterectomy when I was in my 30's, a hormone imbalance is plausible.  I will have to get that checked out.

Thanks for the replies
