She's of Indian descent, and I liked her. She listened, she examined, she made notes on a yellow legal pad! She hit the tender points of my fibromyalgia and I jumped off the table. lol
Bottom line: she wants to wait two more weeks to see what the muscle biopsy shows. (I knew this would be the case but I wanted to get my foot in the door and see if she was worth keeping. At first visit, it's a thumbs up. ;D
Her Plan:
Start back on Neurontin 300 mg. x 3/ day to reduce pain
Evoxac for more saliva (side effect:may become a sweat hog along with this as it stimulates sweat glands. :(
Wait for muscle biopsy and we go from there.
RTC in 4 weeks.
So, I asked in the event the biopsy is negative, would she consider treating me with Plaquenil to stop the damage.
She wasn't crazy about it. She said we'd discuss that later and come back in 1 month. She said I had multiple problems and she'd hate to mix it all up again. Then i made the cardinal mistake at the doctor's office: I teared up.
Now, I am immediately branded as depressed. I just felt so bad...it just came out. :'(
So, I may be at square one and I may not.
But at least I found a rheumatologist who would listen and is taking me seriously, AND I CAN GET AN APPT! They actually called me back in 30 min. after leaving a message yesterday. This is unheard of in my experience.
So, for now this is good news. And she takes my insurance.
Has anyone taken exovac?
Just wanted to give an update and let others know that there is hope even after 16 yrs. Tinker ;)
Tinker,
I'm excited that you and your new doctor seem to have clicked well! I do take Evoxac, and it does work. I'm anxious for the company to make it timed-release, so that it will work all night. And yes, you may notice more sweating. Best wishes!
Cheryl
Glad you found a good one. Teary up may not be that bad. Especially if you don't do it everytime you go. Next month you will know better.
Cheryl,
Are there plans to make Evoxac time released? I tried pilocarpine and decided I'd just chew gum and drink water all day long because the pilocarpine only works for an hour or so. I really hope something comes out that lasts all day. Your post makes me think that perhaps it will actually happen. I'm hoping you've read or heard something that I haven't.
Thank you,
Cathy
Hi :)
Glad it sounds like you've found a good doc. Good doc's should also realise that long term conditions can cause people to be 'down' without it being clinical depression. If the symptoms are treated and the body responds - the 'down' lifts, whereas clinical depression wouldn't.
Actually, when I was depressed I didn't really feel like crying - I just couldn't be bothered with anyone or anything and just felt withdrawn and out of this world which is where I wanted to be. Tears didn't really come into it.
Take care - Scottie :)
