Title: Back to work tomorrow, after 6 weeks off
Post by: wen.uk on September 25, 2008, 07:24:53 AM
Hi all

Well my sick leave has run out and I've decided to return to work tomorrow as I'm feeling so much better.  This past week or so has been great, I've managed to get out and about a few times and do some shopping, and visit friends.  I know if I don't go back in tomorrow I will really struggle to go back at all as it is great being able to do things in my own time, at my own speed, and rest whenever I feel the need to.

I'll work 2 days then have 2 days off so I'm hoping that this will break me in gently and not prove too much.  Yesterday I admitted to my sister that I absolutely dread the thought of having another flair like I've had this time as I felt so dreadful with it so I'm determined not to overdo things at work this time.

Part of me feels like I'm now losing what little social life I've enjoyed these past couple of weeks as I truly don't know if I'll be able to work and combine the two, I know you probably think that I'm looking on the black side (I probably am in all honesty) but I know this is the place where I can be honest and people will understand.

Thanks all, and I'll keep you posted

Wen x x

Good luck for the return Wen.  Make sure you remember your own words of wisdom and don't overdo it.  I'll look forwards to your post telling us how it went.

Good luck Wen, remember what the tortise said when racing the hare, "Slow and steady wins the race".  Take care and I hope you have continued wellness.

Hugs, Pooh

Hi Wen  :)

Good luck with going back to work! Two days a week sounds perfect for starters.

I don't think you're looking on the black side. i think it's very hard to combine work and a social life with SjS. I know my social life has suffered. I keep telling myself that work's not for ever though and I really enjoy going to work. I think I'd get bored and dep0ressed if I didn't even although it can be quite challenging sometimes.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hey Wen
Goodluck going back to work. Just remember to pace yourself and take it easy. Going back two days sounds good. I have done that and it seemed to work for me

Hi everyone

Thanks to you all for your good luck messages - it meant so much to me.  So here I am on my second morning and don't feel bad at all, must admit I felt some apprehension yesterday, especially as when I got up in the morning I had sore hips and knee and thought 'great just what I need!'  But I managed it all the same, cooked dinner when I got home, then sat on the sofa for the rest of the evening.

Today hopefully shouldn't be too bad - I work for an Optician and he's away for the weekend so that means no testing being done hence how I'm able to catch up with you for half an hour.  So I've done it, feel proud for doing so, and long may it continue!!!!  The test comes next week when I should be working four days, but we'll see.

Once again, thanks for your kind thoughts.

Love Wen x x
