Title: Flu like symptoms
Post by: jazzcat82 on September 18, 2008, 11:12:45 PM
This week I have been having "Flu like" symptoms. Mainly ...all over aches and pains and worse than usual fatigue..does this happen to you? I dont have a cough runny nose or anything like that.....I just seem to be getting worse and I am not having any "good" days.

That brought on a bit of a giggle...what you describe are my good days!

I always feel like the 3rd day of the flu, you know when the nausea and vomiting and "whatever" have slowed down or stopped, but moving is a pain (literally and figuratively), you feel like someone ran over you, backed up and did it again to finish the job, and your muscles have taken on the consistency of tapioca pudding.

I don't think of flares until I have vision problems, fever, severe single-joint pain or swelling, ongoing mouth or skin breakouts, or rash. One of them usually means that something is ramping up for take off. I can also count of the fatigue causing a more than once daily crash and burn during a flare. Most of the times these days (the really good days), I can get through 2 or 3 days out of a week with out collapsing on the sofa at some point (or falling asleep at the computer!)

jazzcat82, your description reminds me of the start of a flair. When this happens to me, I increase my carrot juice, garlic, and vitamin C. I also do more range of motions exercises and hibernate like a proper bear.

Hi jazzcat - yes happens frequently!!

Before my dx I was constantly at the drs complaining of  flu and cold like symptons without the cold or flu ever really developing and each time I went was told it was a virus that would need to run its course.  Yeah some virus that turned out to be - one that will be running its course with me forever lol !!!  Pity it's not running its course in the relay race as I could pass it on to the next person and let them carry the baton for a while. :)

Thanx for the reply!! I consider a good day where I at least feel "awake' and not in a grouchy mood hehe then to enhance it I will usually try some coffee. but lately I have not even felt like that..

After a few years you will learn to tell the minor differences if you are not hit with brain fog.

You are right - eventually one knows if it is sjs or something else.  But it is not something one can explain.

It does sound like a flare.  I get high temp spikes for a day too.  I hope you are feeling better soon.

Take Care!
