Title: Ankles swelling and feet tingling
Post by: Nancy60 on August 23, 2008, 05:50:51 PM
I am at a professional conference in another city right now that lasts through tomorrow.  I am in class all day, sitting at least half of that time and moving around some in lab the rest of the time.  I noticed my lower legs/calves, ankles, feet were tight, sore and tender and mildly swollen and both my feet tingling/falling asleep.  I have come home both last night and tonight and put my feet up with some partial relief but not completely.  The swelling is better in the morning but returns pretty quickly-within an hour or so of getting up.  I try to watch my salt intake but it is all restaurant food so not easy to do.  Is this just because i am sitting alot or is somehting else going on here???  What can I do to avoid this, it is really uncomfortable?

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

I'm not sure what to tell you here as swelling could be from so many different things......so the best bet is to let your doctor know whats going on as soon as you can...I would think that would be the safest thing to do. It could be something very simple like you said from the increased salt intake or from being seated so much or it could be something totally unrelated. To be on the safe side....I would have it checked out.

Has this ever happened before? Do you normally have a sit down job where you would see this same thing occur otherwise? Do you take any type of water pill? Just a few things to think about....

If I sit for a while my feet swell and fall asleep.  I have been out to restaurants with friends and when we have finished dinner and it's time to get up and leave, I can barely walk or even stand.  They probably thing I had too much to drink!

Hi Nancy  :)

I agree with Lynnmarie. It's something to check out with your doctor. There are lots of things that can make your legs swell - so you need to find the cause, which may or may not be SjS related.

Take care - Scottie  :)
