Hello
I have some questions for sjogrens. I have sjogrens and fibermyalgria. I went to my sencond visit with my rumy today. It was very easy to get him to tell me I had permary sjogrens. I saw him (My first appt) about 2 weeks ago. I saw him again today and he didn't seem to concerned about me having sjogrens. He gave me three predscriptions. Placerril 200 Mg. Enoxac 30 mg and lyrica. He didn't seem to think my being tired all the time was related he said I should get a better nights sleep and that should help. I have always had a hard time sleeping. He said my nausas stomach wasn't related. he was a very quiet Dr. Its like I had to pull all my answers out of him. He said i must have just developed sjogrens and have not had it since I was little. When I was little I can't tell you how many times I was in the hospital for my stomach and I had newmonia several times. I passed out alot( They said It was my vagel nerve) I counld,'t takeP E in school because I would get sick. I can't even remember a time when I didn't have stomach problems. I have heart problems I have a prolased valve and a heart murmer and I had a second elec. pathway on the left side of my heart that was removed they said I was born with it.He acted like we just need to monitor you every few months. I have lots of achs and pains but I always thought that was fibermyalgia. Should I be concerned and stay with this Dr. and take all the meds? or see some one elese? I am confused. The main two things that brother me now are my dry eyes. ( i can't see very good ) and I am always tired except at night I can't seem to sleep. I also have ADD. I put in for disability I hope this DR. will be good enough. Please some one let me know about these answers? Thanks Theresa
Theresa dear, it sounds to me like you should look for another rheumy. This one doesn't sound like he knows anything about Sjogren's Syndrome except maybe how to spell it. ;D
I would also advise you to see a good opthalmologist since you will be taking Plaquenil and because you are having problems with dry, painful eyes.
As far as the sleepiness, fatigue and joints aches, yes, they are all part of the Sjs picture. The Plaquenil, and Lyrica should help a good bit with the fatigue and joint aches. Once that gets under control, you may find you can sleep better at night. The Plaquenil will take a while to build up in your system (4-6 mos.) but once it does you will feel better. The Lyrica should start to help you a lot sooner.
Take care and if I missed anything, I'm sure someone else will pick it up.
Hugs, Pooh
Thank you for your quick reply. I have an appointment with another rumy already just could not decide to go. I can't see her until Sept 22 that is why I found some one elese. I will kep the appt. I have an appt with y md eye dr. tomorrow. Thanks for everything.
Theresa
The Dr. I went to today just wouldn't wait to get me out of his office . That is how I felt. I was asking all kinds of questions. LOL Now I know what to do. I am very quiet when I go to the drs. I did have a list this time and the dr. I guess didn't like it.
Theresa,
Welcome to the forum. I have had Fibromalgia for a long time. I have chosen to use alternative health care to help me. I use Reiki on my eyes several times per day to help with dryness, focus and sensitivity. I have only been Dx'd with Sjogren's for less than a year. I take a glass of carrot juice every morning for the fibro. Since I do not sleep I meditate every night. As you learn to manage your Fibro, it will get better. I believe that that will hold true for Sjs.

Hi Theresa,
Good for you to come to your doctor appointment armed with a list of questions! The doctors that don't like that kind of patient/doctor conversation are not worth seeing a second time!
Go get 'em, girlfriend!
