Title: Catching up and letting it out....
Post by: maya on August 03, 2008, 07:29:49 PM
Hello everyone!

Its been a few months since I've checked into the forums. Been busy with full time job that I started 3 months ago. I missed you all.

It gets very tiring and going is not easy. I also moved into Washington DC from NC 3 months ago. Have a new GP who is really good - much much better than my doctor in campus health few months ago. Also, having an insurance and a job feels so much better.

But health has not been any better.

Other than my usual dry eyes+dry mouth, I developed numbness in my anal region that has lasted for about 3 monts now. I met my GP who referred me to a neurologist. Neuro conducted general tests and didn't find anything very serious. He noticed some minor abnormalities and ordered a few tests (CT scan of pelvis, routine blood tests, and EMG). All tests were normal. Neuro told me that, as of now, he would suspect two things: Arthralgia/Polyneuropathy. He also mentioned that anal numbness can also be caused by Sjogren's. He asked me to come after 6 months.

Basically, he sent me back w/ no definite diagnosis. I haven't since discussed this with my GP.

Since yesterday, my toe is swollen and is paining terribly. I have no idea why! I think time has come to visit my GP again and discuss this all out. I have had my hand fingers swel and pain once or twice before, but its the first time with toe. I can't walk propoerly and I feel terrible.

Its been almost 1 yr since dry mouth started and more symptoms kept adding up. I don't know where this will take me. I don't have anyone to discuss these things - I stay alone and don't bother anyone with my condition. But I'm so happy to have you all.

Welcome back Maya, you have been missed.

Happy to hear your move is complete and you have found a good rheumy.  I hope all the problems with the neuro work out for you and the numbness disappears.

Take care and it's good to have you back.

Hugs, Pooh

Glad to have you back.  I am sorry to hear of your problems but the stress of the move could have set a lot of this into motion.  Stress tends to make everything flare.  Neuropathy can be a cause of some of your problems but is not always easy to pinpoint especially in the beginning.  You are on the right track to keep in touch with your doctor and inform them of any changes in your symptoms.  Glad to hear you found some you like.  Take care.  Check back in and let us know how you are doing.
