Since my laptop/computer at home is new Im still discovering things. Well this morning I went to Youtube for music videos and started a 'Play List' to use when I need a music fix. I dont know if any of you know of Eva Cassidy. She is a bit obscure but well worth the try. My favorite is her singing Stings song Fields of Gold. Over the Rainbow is also beautiful. She has a wonderfully soothing voice. She died young like Jim Croce so thats why she is still obsure. If anyone would like to hear more about my play list let me know. I enjoy finding and sharing music and books.

Kathylee, I am a you-tube junkie and Eva Cassidy is one of my favorites and I have many of her songs saved as favorites. I also have a couple of Sjogrens educational videos that I made.

I too use music as destressor. I have a wide range of likes with it. I can lay back in my recliner with my headset on and listen to Kenny G on low for hours. Also Ferrane & Teicher. I know, I know I'm not into the new sounds. ;D
I also love classical music and country. So you see I love all music with the exception of hip hop and trash can banging. :o
Pooh
I aswell use music as a destresser. When I'm really feeling down I listen to christmas music. Makes me feel right at home, with a cup of nice warm hot chocolate sitting next to my Fiancee(Sept that he doesn't like Christmas music, but you might get what I mean.)
It helps me to fall asleep fast, I use it as a relaxer. I also like some Garth Brooks songs, like The River, and When There's No One Around. -(That's actually all the Garth Brooks songs I like. lol) Some game music is a good one. Like Gauntlet: The Dark Legacy: Province 11_Town.
Yep, throw me into the ring also! I adore most kinds of music except hard core rap (especially about killing cops/raping/referring to females as a 'ho/etc.); I also have a lot of Native American music - it's so soothing after a hard day.
Oh, Pooh, I also like the "trash can banging", I find it interesting. :D

Hadnt thought of Garth yet....I find movie scores enticing and they can get me to into that physical wave that comes on for me when apiece of music touches me deeply. That kind of reaction takes me 'home' to myself which is good, maybe the best destresser. While Joe Black wasnt a hit I own the sound track. I has strains that cause this reaction in me. For me a movie sound track can make or break a movie.

I'm another music lover and I LOVE listening to it whenever I can.....on my computer...in the car...at night in bed...whenever! I also have such a variety of music...from classical music.....love the blues and jazz....classic rock is a must....motown...and yes I really like some of the newer stuff as well (people say "you're too old to listen to that..I say WHAT??..lol).
I'm not a big country fan, but there are some songs that I really like and have them included in my playlists as well! I also have some native American and Asian music that I find VERY relaxing!
When I hear something I like.......I just do...doesn't matter to me what type of music it is I guess!

Well said Lynnmarie! :D

By Trash can banging, what are you reffering to? metal?
Just curious is all.
There is "really" a trash can banging band or Play that has been in my town. I suppose they travel the country. I'd believe it's good or people wouldn't pay good money to see it. Sorry I don't know the name of it--or better how to describe it, but it's a real phenomenon! Lucy
I went with my daughter on a school trip when she was in High school to a community Arts center to see a traveling production called "Stomp".
They really did stomp out their rhythms and banged trash cans and lids. I just kept thinking, I must lack culture and a sense of art. I had no understanding, it all sounded silly to me.
I think I could create a better concert in my own kitchen.
A few years later we were in a big city that was advertising the production "Stomp" as a spectacular extravaganza for tickets of close to $50.
I like Nicole C. Mullins a Christian contemporary artist. Corrine Baily Rae who seems to have made only one CD so far.

Hi SilberKatze, yep, I meant "Stomp"; I do enjoy alternative music as well. :)
Hi Lucy, I always thought that it would go really far, and I'm glad to see that it has.
Patze
I LOVE Stomp!!!
:)
Another music lover here!
I listened to my iPod shuffle last night while laying in the ER. When I got my iPod a few months ago, my daughter (20 year old computer geek and computer science major) informed me right away "Mom, just because you have an iPod does NOT make you part of the iPod generation!" I thought that was cute.
I have mostly Christian contemporary loaded onto my iPod. One song that has mean a lot to me lately is by a new singer named Meredith Andrews, and the song is called "You're Not Alone". You can find that one on You Tube. She has an angelic voice.
Another favorite (well, it has grown on me a bit) is a song called "Love is Here" by Tenth Avenue North. The leader singer grew up in my old church and I know his family. His music is a little "young" for me most of the time, but this one song has a great message. It's also on You Tube. Just make sure you click on Tenth Avenue North's official video, because some times kids put up recordings they made at concerts and the sound quality is low.
Well, off to the pharmacy. Do you ever wonder what the pharmacists think when we are constantly picking up prescriptions?
Donna :)
Hi Donna, My favorite music is also contempory Christian. I like both of those that you suggested and I've added them to my you-tube favorites. Another you-tube one that I like is by Selah "All of Me". Check out that one.
Steve
Thanks! I loved it!!!! I've heard some of Selah's songs, I guess I'll have to buy it on iTunes.
I also noticed that Selah has done "Before the Throne of God Above" which I think is my all time favorite hymn.
One of the other things I do for relaxing is play the piano (not that great though) and ride my horse. I have a friend who also has autoimmune issues, and we both comment that no matter how tired or achy we are after we ride, the riding itself is so relaxing that it is worth it!!!!!
Donna
Hey Donna,
I had to laugh at your daughters remark.
When I got my Zune, kinda like an Ipod I thought I was cool. My husband keeps me up on techo stuff. My daughters make fun of me ,also. When I decided for Christmas last year I wanted a lap top computer, my daughter told her Dad he should check toys-r-us. I am techo challenged.
Billydude ,
My daughter who does her yoga, she calls it Selah yoga. Its a scripture based yoga to Christian music, I wonder if its the same music your mentioning.
kim
Hi Kim,
Was your laptop a "V-Tech" brand? Ha ha.
I work with computers for a living so I get to be a little geeky. But if I get too geeky my daughter worries. She is a true geek. :) I am not allowed to tread in her territory.
Donna
I like some Christian music, like Petra. Some of my favorite songs by them are "Prayer", "Judas Kiss", " Rose-Colored Stain Glass Windows", and "Road To Zion"
I also like DC Talk, but that's alittle bit more like rock. I like "Jesus Freak" and "Colored People"
Donna, Ha ! A few more years and she'll have her arm around you , you'll be treading together.
My daughter are 25 and 26 of age and just now their sewing and crocheting and calling me in regard to their progress.
I thought that day would never come.
(I tried to pull one of those smiling peas over here for zillionth time, can't seem to execute that process)
