Title: swollen knuckles
Post by: whatsup on July 12, 2008, 09:51:11 PM
Hi

today I experienced tingling in my fingers.  Now they feel slighty swollen as are some of the knuckles.  And they feel sore.  Is this a symptom of Sjogrens?

Thanks

Hi Whatsup  :)

It could be a symptom of SjS or it could be a different kind of arthritis kicking in. I'm afraid you reallt need to ask your doc. I had a swollen knee which everyone was quite happy to attribute to SjS/lupus until they finally did an x-ray and it was Grade 4 osteoarthritis. I also have oseoarthritis in both shoulders and I also have painful knuckles. They haven't swollen yet so I haven't actually asked about them. Keep meaning to - but it slips my mind as I'm usually seeing a doc about something unrelated.

If my knuckles swelled or changed shape I would definitely see my doc and so I think that's your best course of action. Do you take anti inflammatories? If you don't - they may help as long as you're allowed to take them.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi Whatsup,

I too am having some issues with swollen fingers of late - miserable.  Until last night, three of my knuckles on my left hand were red and sore, kind of looks like the skin on them is thickening a bit.  I too wonder if it's arthritis or not, but the knuckle issue was on my left hand and I'm right handed.  Whether it's part of SJS, I can't say, but it sure is frustrating!

I too get the tingling now and then, but mainly other areas of the old body, then the itching starts, and the numbness soon follows.

Take care -

Patze
