Happy 4th to All! No matter how bad the economy I still love this holiday and all it stands for. It is a wonderful reminder to me of my grandfather who was huge on this holiday. He was too young for WWl and too old for WWll, never the less his patriotism ran deep. He had an old long white station wagon that he had mounted speakers onto the roof. These speakers were connected to a record player on the front seat (run by the battery). Every year he would ride around his small town playing the music of John Phillip Sousa to show his love of country. Then it was hot dogs, chips and lemonade for lunch. I still see him the year my daughter was born, smiling and standing with his hand over his heart as we sang the national anthem for the July 4th Bicentennial Celebration.
To all of you have a wonderful day. Thanks to all our troops who give so much to uphold our freedom. My grandfather taught me well - the freedom we have, no matter the economic problems, is a priceless gift.
Happy 4th of July to all. It was a beautiful day in Michigan. To see the best fireworks around, we attended the local stock car races. Choke, cough, cough. Wheeze. I had my Panoptx goggles on so my eyes were protected. I'd forgotten how much the fumes from the cars come into the stands. We thoroughly enjoyed the fireworks at the end of the races. Cough, cough. Time to go wash the rubber out of my hair and use my inhaler. ::) Lucy
