lately seems like every time I turn around some one else I know is pregnant. We were thinking of having our second before I was dx w/ SJS but now that is on hold until we figure this all out and get used to life w/ SJS. I know this doesn't mean we can never have another I"m just feeling impatient. It's hard when 5 people you know are pregnant and 3 are close friends and we always talked about how fun it would be to all be pregnant together. Also my sister in law is pregnant and I avoid her all the time cuz she is always complaining that she doesn't want to be pregnant and doesn't want another baby. It makes me so upset when she's like that. That people who don't want babies can have them and people who want them can't. Many of my friends don't know about my SJS yet and those that do don't really understand it as they have never heard of it before. Enough of my complaining and pity party I guess. If any one has encouragement that would be great thanks.
Have you talked to your doctor? Many with SJS have babies without issue -I had 3 - although I was not officialy diagnosed at the time! :) Don't let SJS stop you from living your life and pursuing your dreams. I am not sure as to the severity of your symptoms, but I bet your doctor can give you some good advice! :) Tami K
Lacey, I would encourage you to talk with your doctor also. I was ill when I had all my babies but had no idea what was going on with my body. The third and last pregnancy I was really sick and had to quit work, only gained 10 pounds during pregnancy, had to have cortisone shot due to bad back pain. The doc said I was too pregnant to be put in traction. Thankfully, I was 6 months and the cortisone had worn off before the baby was born.
My mother-in-law told me later she didn't know if I would live to have the baby. I was so surprised as I did not think I was THAT sick. Anyway, all 3 of my babies were born fine. There are heart issues that have to be watched for but with a good OB/GYN and Pediatrician I would think it would be feasible. Irish ;D
yes we are going to talk w/ my dr. it's just that everything is so new i was just dx in May and we're still trying to figure out how to deal w/ everything. Plus I had a very difficult pregnancy w/ our son. Like i said I know this doesn't mean we can never have another baby it just means delaying awhile and today I"m feeling really impatient about it.
Aww Lacey, I wish there were something I could say to cheer you up. Maybe you should tell your sister-in-law she can give you the baby if she doesn't want it. That's a sad thing to hear.
I'm sure there is a time for you have another baby and when that time comes you will be a great Mom.
Take care dear, and know that we are all pulling for you and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
Hugs, Pooh
Hi Lacey,
Here's a giant, but gentle
(((( H U G )))))

Lacey-
First, I'm sending a big hug (but I don't know how to do the special affects!).
Second, I too was feeling the effects of this disease, though diagnosis was many years away, with both of my children. I did have some difficulty with the pregnancy and both were born by C-section, but it was nothing that a good, attentive OB couldn't handle.
My boys are 19 and 22 now, so obviously, they've both been absolutely fine!
Please try to relax and absolutely, talk to your doctor. Make a list of your concerns, the things you don't understand and take them with you to the doctor. I actually took a list of complaints I'd posted here to my last doctor's appointment. He read the entire thing, said he was glad to have everything laid out before him, then addressed each of them. I can honestly say that I'm starting to feel better than I have in a while because of the decisions made at that appointment (and help from my pain doctor, but that's related to a back injury, not SJs)
And I agree with Pooh, tell your sister-in-law to shut up and hand over this baby that she says she doesn't want!
We're all pulling for you and will be here to help whatever your outcome is, though I'll be praying that you'll be sharing your next pregnancy with us as soon as it's possible!
Take care, Tracy
thanks for the support ladies sister in law is real pain since she pregnant w/ her 3rd and none were planned or wanted. Hopefully we'll get everything figured out soon and we can start trying for another baby. I go to see my rhuematologist on Tues. and i have already started putting together a list of questions. I plan on asking for a referral to a high risk ob so we can make an appointment w/ them b4 we get pregnant. again thanks for the encouragement I"m so glad I found a sight like this one
Hi Lacey,
Oh yes, Please, share with us if you get pregnant, we are all wonderful "adoptive aunts and uncles". ;D
Good luck dear, and hang in there.
Hugs, Pooh
I know it must be difficult when some don't even want their babies, but just think of it that when it is time for you to have your next , it will be the right time and so special , and that no other is like yours. You can feel good in the fact that your precious children are here because their parents wanted them, and how blessed they are. Your doctors can help you through it all , and then your family can take comfort in that. I do understand about being impatient though. I have learned any patience I have the hard way. But, it actually can be a good thing, because like you said, you haven't been diagnosed long so you are just taking your time to first get everything in order and ready for this next precious little baby. You sound like a good mom to me.
susanep :)
Lacey, You are right on with asking about a referral to a high risk OB. It is good to get all your questions answered ahead of time so anything that comes up will not be a surprise. I am sure that you will be able to get pregnant and get through another pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different so one never knows. Good luck. Irish ;D
Lacey,
You probably had SJS when you were pregnant with your first baby and just didn't know it! Tami K
