Title: Unusual deposits in urine & dark clouds
Post by: mmebtterfly on June 09, 2008, 08:29:03 PM
I too have unusual deposits in urine. I have defused Sjogren's Syndrome causing neurogenic bladder and bowels along with many others problems. I have to self cath 4x per day. Since my badder doesn't empty during normal peeing I don't see anything in the toilet bowl. After self catheterization I do see a dark cloud in my urine as well as deposits on the bottom of the bowl that appear like clumps of fibrous material clinging together. They are dark yellow. Describing them is most difficult.  The dark clouds with in seconds falls to the bottom and appears to be dark fine sand.  I've been treated for infections for years and have made my way through all the specialist and finally Infectious Disease who told me to only get an urine analysis if I have a primary symptoms i.e. back pain, burning etc.  Last checked Feb '08 Kidney function OK, and standard Ecoli infection as always.  This problem with deposits in my urine has been going on for a year or more and several urine analysis' done with only infection problems.

I'm 62 y/o
Still I'm concerned about the fibrous stuff.  Does anyone Else have this problem?  Is is Sjogren's related. :-\

What do you think?

Thanks, Jamie Marie

Hi Jamie Marie,
Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time with the bladder and urine.  My first suggestion would be to talk to your doctor about this, but I see you have.  Also they have tested it.

So I guess my second suggestion would be to find another urologist and get a second opinion.  I have had bladder problems for the past 8 yrs. and they sure aren't any fun.  I wish you luck with this and hope you get some relief real soon.

Jamie, I don't know if you have every had a kidney stone etc but it would be wise to get urine checked by the urologists office as they are more apt to be aware of strange things in urine.

I am hoping that you are drinking plenty of water and other fluids. Also, there are certain foods that can cause the stones to form and I would think they could contribute to sludge also. Sometimes sludge in urine can also contribute to the frequency of infections.

I know that oxalates are a no-no and unfortunately one of the foods with oxalates is chocolate. Sometimes the docs will check the urine and advise either an acid ash or alkaline ash diet. Check with your urologists about this. It is very common for people to have to self cath to avoid drinking as much as they don't want to have to cath any more often. The fact that you have the urine in the bladder for long periods of time maybe means that you need to drink more and cath more. Another thing to check with your doc. Good luck. Irish ;D
