Title: super human sense of smell?
Post by: Pharmma on May 13, 2008, 10:15:32 AM
Hey folks,

I have developed a new phenomenon and was wondering if any one else has had this also.  I have a super human sense of smell.  I can smell everything, like the dogs breath from across the room.  The smell of my co-workers lunches nauseates me.  Lilacs smell like lilac but times 10.

One of the gals at work has an autoimmune disease (not sjogren's) and she said her sense of smell went crazy right before it declined.  Sounds like a catch 22.  Too much smell is bad.  No or low sense of smell could be really bad, dangerous even.

Anyone in the "world" have a similar experience?  I feel like shoving cotton balls up my dry little nose.

sick and tired of being sick and tired,
Pharmma

I notice my sense of smell is amazing right before my period. Which can be a very bad thing with teenage athletes in the house...the car...the garage! lol

Hi Pharmma  :)

I've always had a really good sense of smell. I thought it was because I'm partially deaf and I figured another sense had just 'stepped in' to compensate. I can smell people coming into rooms and things and know when food's cooked without checking.
I think, if anything, it's become moere sensitive but there are some smells, which are meant to be nice, like perfume, that actually 'hurt'.

Take care - Scottie  :)

I had read....can't remeber where, that if you have a bad candida infection that can make you have a great sense of smell?

I have a great sensed of smell and I am always on / off with candida.

Will have to think where I read it, just don't hold me to it :D

My sense of smell is definety superhuman!  Try teaching 6th grade  -where the kids forget to take showers or put on deoderant, or brush their teeth.... I just send them to the nurse for a lesson on hygeine. She says she can barely smell them!! Tami K

I have always had a pretty good sense of smell.   I can smell dust and mildew way before my husband can and flowery smells seem very intense.  I always figured it was because I am allergic to all of these things.
