Title: OFF TOPIC-JOEY
Post by: susanep on May 09, 2008, 04:16:36 AM
This is causing me a lot of stress. My PUPPY JOEY (JO-JO) is missing. He was out playing with our other fur babies, but have not seen him since yesterday morning. I miss him so much, and he must be hungry. Please say a prayer for him to return.

Hi Susan

I can fully understand how worried and stressed you must be about this. I hope he comes home really soon. Are there numbers you can phone in case he was picked up anywhere?

Take care - Scottie

Susan, Hope that your puppy shows up soon. Has anyone gone out looking for him yet? Sometimes a neighbor will end up seeing them and feed them and wait for someone to come looking. Irish ;D

JOEY is spending the night at the vets. My husband ask our trash pickup person this morning if they had seen a dog out roaming anywhere. She said, "is he light brown?" husband says, yes. She said that she passed a dog like that huddled by a church, and it looked hurt, like it had been hit by a car. My husband rushed over there, and it was JOEY. He looked pitiful. My husband got him to the vet. They put an IV in him, gave him something for pain,  and x-rays. They said he was trying to go into shock, but with all they are giving him, and NO broken bones, he will be very sore, but will be ok.

THANKS FROM US AND JOEY, FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS

Wow Susan, what a relief. Thank goodness he wil be okay. I know how frantic you must have been. Our Pixie (kitty) was missing for three days and we were a wreck. She has a chip but in this case it didn't help. We live in the woods and are surrounded by woods, no homes nearby. The poor baby was lost in the woods for three days, with coyotes, foxes etc. We think it is a miracle that we got her back. Never again will she be allowed outside. She doesn't like it but too bad.

So glad your Joey is safe.  :)

Oh Shari, I know that feeling. I cried for three days. We do love our animal companions, such close family members.  :)

Quiger~~~I have cute little finches indoor and one flew the coop one day when I was changing water etc.  Well, I had the front door open and out she flew leaving her family behind.

I sat on the front stoop for three days just bawling my eyes out.  Part of that was worry for what she would go through outdoor where the elements would not be kind.  It was awful.

Just the other day I was opening the door to feed them (I had sinced found a new companion for the male)  and one flew out!  It ended up being a new baby!!!!  I was able to get "it" back with the others and now will wait for it to mature and find out if it's a boy or girl.  ~~Shari~~

Hi Susan,

What could have been such a tragic story turns out not so bad after all (so thankful) and that is a red letter day in my book every day and twice on Sunday too!!!!!  Okay, now I can stop and breath for a minute!  Whew, I get excited hearing about a sad animal buddy story with a good ending!

I'm so thankful that he's not seriously hurt and hope that he will be home shortly!  When he does come home, please give him a couple of scratches behind the ear for me.

Guys when JOEY gets home, I will give him the hugs and scratches behind the ears. ;)  I miss him.  :( The vet said he felt it is in JOEY'S best interest to keep him through the weekend in a controlled environment. He is still not able to stand much on his back legs. He had still not ate on his own, and he went pee pee, but not the other. They want him to have more rest. When he comes home we will need to keep him on antibiotics, and some pain meds. They think he was hit more around his back area. When he gets home, he is going to be pampered.  :)

Poor little Joey  -  he will need a lot of loves and hugs.  Just like for people.  hospitals are needed but there is no place like home to heal and get well.  Hope you all have a joyous re-union - so glad he was found!

Joey is home!! He is staying in one spot on a nice comfy dog bed. My husband said they told him at the vet he was still not eating or driniking. Well, at home he has been eating and drinking almost not stop. The only thing that concerns me is his left front paw he cant hardly stand on it. It also has a scrape on it from the hit, but he wont walk around due to how it must be.  I thought I guess if it wasnt broke he would be able to stand on it by now. I am glad he is home though, and I can tell he is happy to be here.

Thank goodness he is home Susan! And I'm glad he is eating and drinking again! He just wanted to be home! Keep an eye on his poor little paw.....but I'm sure he will get better day by day now that he is home where he wants to be and where he should be!

I'm happy this had a happy ending!

Continued healing wished for Joey!

Update on Joey= We took him back to the vet the other day. He is so much better, but still folded under his one paw, and one back leg we started noticing he would limp a bit, and makes a quick little noise sometimes when he is laying down. Not a cough, or sneeze, but almost the sound a cat makes when having a hair ball, but it only would last a couple of seconds. The vet watched him walk around, and did another xray.

He said he is doing well, but the problems are neurological. He said that part  might get better or not, but was otherwise doing well. He gave us some more pain pills to give him as needed, and some prednisone for inflammation. Poor Joey has inflammation now like all of us do.  ??? We told him little Joey is our baby forever no matter what.  :)

Thanks for the update on Joey Susan! Yes...our pets are with us through thick and thin and in sickness and in health......sounds familiar , huh?  ;) l I have had pets go through blood transfusions and IV therapy at home and so many other things. I look at it this way. If they are not in pain or suffering....have the desire to live...I will do whatever it takes to make their life long and happy for them. So I do understand.....and good for you!

Give Joey a little gentle hug from me!

Susan,

I am so glad that you have your little fur-baby back home!

My pets are so much more than just pets to me - they are part of our family. sounds like you feel the same way.
I hope Jo-jo is all better soon.
