Title: double vision
Post by: Carolina on June 03, 2024, 07:34:46 AM
Dear Sjogren's Angels,

I have developed double vision, which is the result of nerve damage to the nerves that control the focusing of my eyes.

There is NO cure, of course, or treatment.  I do, however, wear an eyepatch when reading.  I cover the eye does not focus properly and the double vision doesn't bother me.

At this point my double vision is only apparent when I am reading.  However, I have a close friend with Parkinson's Disease, and her double vision affects her ability to see her food on the plate properly, and also affects her vision at a distance.   She cannot read at all, even with an eyepatch, and listens to recorded books.   Parkinson's also causes nerve damage in her entire body.  It is incredibly comforting to be able to share our problems.

"A problem shared is a problem halved."

"And the old adage of 'a problem shared is a problem halved' was borne out by the study, which showed that when people share worries with others, it can really improve their situation:

Around 3 in 10 adults share their worries (29%). Of these, over a third (36%) feel brighter as a result
A quarter (26%) feel relief when they have confided in someone about a problem."

Take it a day at a time!
