Hubby has been dxed with bladder cancer. They want to take out the bladder and may have to do so. I do not like the doctor.
Any body from the Colorado area that would recommend an excellent cancer center?
Any other state that would have a better bladder cancer center.
Am in major flare. Weather is insanely cold (trigger for me) and this makes thinking straight pretty much not happening.
Thanks
I am sorry. I hope he has a good outcome and you can make it out of you flair.
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband, Confused. And of course it is harder to deal with these things when we have an autoimmune disease sapping our energy. May I suggest you re-post this with 'bladder cancer' in the title, in the hope that more members who have some knowledge of this might read your post?
Thank you Araminta,
I can't think.
I am assuming that you mean a doctor in Colorado. I do know that I have heard good things about the Anderson Clinic in T exams. I think that is the place. I am going to look that up and do some research for you. So sorry that both of you are feeling so lousy. Take care and God Bless. meirish
UC Health Colorado Springs....Denver...or Northern Colorado. I assume that the UC is the University of Colorado with locations in these 3 areas.
They treat just about all the cancers....Have Surgery, clinical trials, Chemotherapy, Radiation. Known as some of the best cancer treatment centers. Most of the time the University inn all states have good treatment as they have much funding from different organizations plus have a lot of research plus they are teaching so many types of doctors for future practice.
Hope you can find some info on these that will help you. Being close to home also helps when we need special care. meirish
confused, I am having some problems getting things to post. At least I got one school listed.
Will try again tomorrow
Irish I know you are recovering so it was so nice of you to look up things.
As it turns out, after the first doctor whose so called 1 and 1/2 short procedure turned into a disaster, Hubby is right now at UC health in Denver meeting with a team of docs, etc. I could never make through that long of session but our neighbor,Hubby, is with him. There is a cancer center, Anschutz which may be where the meeting is taking place. I am not sure. Now this will have an oncologist, urologist and I can not remember who else. To long for more info for now as I am fading fast.
Because of the bad procedure things will have to move fairly fast. Thank you Irish and rest!
So glad your neighbor went with your hubby to help with comfort and information. My prayers will be with your and your family throughout this treatment. Rest and take care of yourself. Life does tend to get complicated and it is hard to keep up with it all. Taking naps is a helpful way to cope with it all. Hugs and God Bless you. meirish
MD Anderson in Houston, Texas is where most people go for the best help with cancer.
I am so sorry your husband is suffering. The pain if off the charts, I'm sure.
God bless.
Hi, Confused. I will not be on chat tomorrow night. Please let us know what happened so far. Love and hugs, Judie P.
We live in Illinois but we travel to MD Anderson in Houston and feel totally blessed to have been referred there and accepted. Right now my husband is half way through a new 2 year Clinical Trial.
When he was first diagnosed 7 years ago, he was given 6 months to live if he did nothing. He is doing very well right now and every day is a gift. It is a pain to have to keep traveling back and forth and I can see how many people would want closer treatment to home.
It has worked out well for us. Mayo Clinic is also highly recommended and they are probably closer to you. Again, I know many people would not like a long distance travel and I would check nearby University Hospitals.
Life can be such a struggle! Good luck to you.
Kathy
Hi Confused
very sorry to read about your husband's diagnoses. Hope he gets good treatment and beats it! I have a friend who had to have her bladder removed. obviously the whole thing was traumatic but she copes very well.
That all happened 10 years ago. She leads a busy life and travels to see family in New Zealand every two years - so it hasn't stopped her getting on with life.
Take care - Scottie xx
I have just prayed for your husband and you. I know it gets overwhelming, so just take a day or moment at a time. You both will continue to be in my prayers.

Thank you for the prayers. They are much needed. I never know what is around the corner.
Hubby has first Chemo today and was told when he does the surgery he will be down for about 2 to 3 weeks. Thank you again for your prayers and will send prayers your way as well.
Blessings,
I hope all goes well for him during his chemo time. Thank you for your prayers as well.
It was a nice spring like day today.
Hugs
