Hello. I found that if I almost close my eyes and the background is white, I see a gray smudge in central vision. They are not floaters because these central smudges do not move (and I have a lot of floaters too). I have been taken hydroxychloroquine for 15 years so I was worried that it could be something related to this issue. I went to the ophthalmologist, he looked at the macula and he said that it seems ok, that the images or the macula are the same than those in previous years. He said, however, that he thinks that the perceptions or the patients are important.
I am waiting for my rheumatologist in order to explain this situation, but I was wondering if someone had vision issues because of the hydroxychloroquine and how these issues can appear.
Regards.
Hi felpeyu2,
Just in case, here is a link to the Amsler Grid used to check for Macular Degeneration.

Your ophthalmologist ruled out MD, and I'm sure he's right. But just in case.....
I was recently diagnosed with Macular Degeneration, so of course it's on my mind. I found the distortion of MD using the Amsler Grid and immediately saw a Retinal specialist ophthalmologist and the diagnosis was confirmed.

Thanks for the link, I think it is very useful. I am sorry for your diagnosis.
