With all of us dealing with the ramifications of the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, are you going to get a flu shot this year to maybe help lessen the severity of Covid-19 should you be exposed to it, or get it?
nope, nope, nope
Yes, yes, yes.
No.....no.....no
I already did and do every year.
I already got one because I don't want to get the flu. Trying not to get anything. Don't know about it decreasing the severity of covid.
I am getting one. I always get mine the end of October or first of Novemeber depending on how much flu is predicted. I want mine to last thru March at least. Het it too soon it can run out in February and that is too early as far I am concerned. Meirish
I have my appointment this coming Thursday, my doctor's office calls me to book.
I always took them when I was working, since I was in a medical ICU and was exposed to the most extreme cases. After my (forced) retirement, I continued due to my immunosuppressive treatments.
I have had influenza once in the past 30 years, the year I started taking methotrexate in March, and was sick in April, toward the end of the unusually long season and 7 months after the shot, so beyond it's range.Since I was already quite ill from the initial onset of Sjogren's, I was very ill with the flu, hospitalized for 10 days and nearly in ICU. I never want to risk being that sick again
Hi :)
was called in for a pneumonia shot in August. Arm swelled up like it had a golf ball under the skin!
Was called in for a flu shot last month. No problem at all. seems the safest thing to do this year.
Take care - Scottie :)
Already took my flu shot and the Hubby did too. We think it is a good thing to do.
Kathy
I never had the shot because I react to any med so I am really scared of doing it. fortunately I never had flu in the last 30 years, I got sick with terrible colds but that all. any one like me??
Hi :)
I only started getting flu jabs after I got dxd with emphysema - seemed like the sensible thing to do.
I have had flu in the past and it's pretty vicious! I always wonder, when they tell someone with suspected Covid to go and get a test, how the heck they manage to, if it feels anything like flu. Last time I had flu it took me all my time to get to the bathroom. No way could I have driven anywhere!
Take care - Scottie :)
My functional Cleveland Clinic dr recommends the flu shot as long as it is the preservative free one.
Now I get one every year and it hasn?t been an issue.
I always get the stronger flu shot per the advice of my immunologist and it also can't be the live vaccine. meirish

How do you know what kind of flu shot you're getting?
Bucky
You have to ask the doctor what he is ordering. We all need the preservative free one. I get the stronger one that they generally give to older and more high risk people. I always ask and make sure before they give it to me. meirish
Never.
