Title: Stem cell injections
Post by: angelina on October 13, 2020, 03:12:24 AM
Help! I did stem cell injections. It was donated chord blood-
Technically according to the medical community we are not supposed to react to chord blood stem cells as they are supposed to be too immature to be recognized by the immune system!
My lulus and Sjogrens is the worst it?s ever been
It?s been 6 days of heck

Wow, I am so sorry to hear that. I assume you are in contact with your doctor. I know nothing about stem cells in treatment of autoimmune diseases or anything else. I know they use them with bone marrow transplants.

Hope that this settles down soon. I would thing you will have some information down the road for us on this treatment. Do you have to get stem cells from someone who is blood type compatible??? So many questions about this. Hopefully when you improve you will improve for a long time. Good luck and keep us updated. meirish

There is a possibility of Graft versus host disease (GVHD) following any allo stem cell transplant, and the symptoms can mimic various autoimmune diseases. Have you had blood work for autoantibodies to verify that the AIs are flaring, lke increased SSA or SSb?

This is something your doctor should be following closely, since it can become a chronic problem.
