Hi all. I have been reading on a Hashimoto?s thyroid site about a lot of people having muscle and joint pain reduction after changing their diet to an anti-inflammatory diet. A lot of them are gluten and dairy free eating primarily fruits, vegetables, proteins nuts etc. Have any of you had success with this type of diet? Thanks in advance!
Anna
Hi Anna,
I feel a whole lot better after cutting out cafeïne, sugar, white flour products, dairy, deep fried stuff, alcohol and even whole wheat bread. Try consuming any of these and I will be punished by extremely painful mouth sores and physically feeling hungover.
What it basically boils down to is to eat as natural & unrefined as possible. Vegetables, fruit, nuts and unprocessed meat & fish sit best with me. So it comes pretty close to the Paleo diet or similar.
I've also noticed a higher dose of bio-identical testosterone is a blessing to joint & muscle pain and improves moistening of mouth & eyes.
Good luck!
Hi :)
I've ner noticed much of a difference but a change of diet made a HUGE difference to a woman who used to use this forum. Changed her life around, reduced symptoms and she was able to return to work after quite a long absence.
Everyone is different. It is worth trying out different things.
take care - Scottie :)
I had a big reduction in joint issues when I went gluten free. I occasionally cheat, usually with a cookie or two...... I always ate a lot of veggies and that has not changed.
I tried a very healthy diet about 6 years ago and I regret it to this day. I overloaded with foods very high in histamine, oxalates and salicylates.
It made me crash and I most likely will never recover from that mistake.
So, I would suggest looking especially at foods high in oxalates and avoid those. (almonds, spinach and more)
Be very careful.
Avoiding gluten and dairy could be helpful.
