I don't have sleep apnoea (my husband would have told me) and I don't grind my teeth. I wonder if it the nighttime dryness is the reason, maybe something to do with the sinuses? Once I'm up and about it usually goes away fairly quickly.
Do others have this problem and if so do you have any theories about it?
I sometimes get headaches at night that wake me up. I?m pretty sure it?s from the dryness as my eyes, sinuses and mouth get drier when I sleep. I keep a saline spray next to my bed and use that before I go to sleep and when I wake up at night. I also use a nasal gel. Sometimes I have to do this several times during the night. I usually don?t have these headaches during the day.
That is one thing I don't have and I feel bad for anyone who suffers with headaches.
I will add that headaches are listed as a symptom but I think it may be a less common one. Because autoimmune diseases are inflammatory it would make sense that headaches could affect some people.
The one thing I want to add is that headaches can be caused by other issues so it would be prudent to to have the headaches assessed by neurologists to rule out other things,
The dryness issue is something that can cause headaches for some people. It does help to have a personal humidifier at the bedside. I have gotten lazy since I found out that wearing one of the rectangular face masks that I buy at Walmart helps.
It is crazy but years ago I would wear these masks in the garden for the dust ad pollen. I discovered that breathing in the masks helps to increase the moisture in my lungs and sinuses. I frequently wear a mask at night and even during the day if humidity is low, etc. When the mask gets too damp you can throw it away and put on a new one. The mask come in 20 or so to a box for about 4$ and I just find they are worth it. It takes energy to clean through humidifiers. Good luck. Irish
I don't usually wake up with a headache, but like others wake up with all the dryness. I need to get some of the gel to use in my nose at night. I use a lot of the saline during the day, and run a humidifier.
I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you all for your kind advice.
I do suspect that dryness is the cause, and will make a point of using saline nasal spray each time I wake up in the night, maybe I've not used that enough. I also saw something online about sinus massage, so I may try that. Will also look out for those face masks, it makes sense that a more humid airflow would help.
Irish, if things go on or get worse I will of course talk to my doctor.
