Title: Dizziness, Rocking Boat Feeling
Post by: Jeigh44 on September 18, 2019, 04:33:18 PM
Hi Everyone,

Hope all is well and that you are in good health.  I was curious if anyone deals with dizziness that feels like the floor is one step lower than it actually is or  like the floor is moving.   I have also had three experiences where it literally feels like someone takes my arm and yanks me to the floor, and it only lasts a few secs.  I have had all of the vertigo test imaginable, and nothing is showing up.  My brain MRI, as of two years ago, was all clear.  Could it be the Sjogrens?   It tends to come and go and somedays it is all day.   My drs. look at me like I am crazy! Any imput would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much.

J

I will try to answer a few of your issues. I have had Sjogrens for many years and back in the 1990's I started having times when    I sort of lost my place. I would drive into the garage at MN after work and when the lights shut off in garage and I tried to get out of the car I could not find the door handle to open the doors.

I also had episodes when getting out of the car to walk into my building at work, I would have problems knowing where to put my feet and I would have to watch the ground so I would not fall. Also, walking down a dark hall in my house at night I would bounce all over and would have problems finding the walk and would lose my knowledge of where I was at.

Many issues like this that would come and go. If you do a search for proprioceptive(a neurological) disorder you should find a good explanation for this. I tried to explain it to several of my doctors back then and they thought I was crazy. Later I had an ENT who specialized in base of the brain surgery and he understood what was going on. He is still my doc to this day.

If you don't have a neurologist you should probably get one. It comes in handy to have someone with knowledge of the nerves of the brain and how they work. People with Sjogrens have a whole lot more neuropathy and balance issues than is commonly known. It helps to have someone who can sort out things for you. I had so many tests years ago plus scans, etc. and always had negative results. A lot of the immune things that happen to us don't show up on scans.

Just know that we have to keep track of ourselves when we are out walking about and doing thing so we don't injure ourselves. Playing sports, etc can be hazardous when we don't always know where we are. One of the explanations of proprioceptive disorders is that we don't know where our body or body part is in relationship to the world. Hits the nail on the head for me.

This may not be all you issues but it may help some. Good luck. Irish

Hello there.

Yes, I have this as well. I become confused where the ground or stair steps are and trip up myself.
I have also reached for my water bottle on a counter and took 3 tries to get it in my hand. Every time I
Tried I would come up short on the distance of where it was and where my hand grabbed for it.

I bounce off hallways and door ways. When coming off the last step of the stairs, I take my toe and tap the
surface to make sure it's really there and how close/far it is.

On and on I could list things. I sometimes get a spinning dizzy feeling come over me occasionally.

It is annoying for sure....but it sounds like a sjogrens thing.

Take care.
Shelly

I had that feeling from babesiois .. which can be spread by ticks. It's a common symptom of babesia.
