Hello Everyone,
I was reading several pages on here, and wanted to update about myself. I am not really on any new meds, but I could be forgetting something since my short term memory is so bad. I am 66 now, and time just seems to fly by with my accomplishing little.
I see the same Rheumy, but he is in private practice now, and it seems like since this he skims over things, and does very little blood work on me or will tell me to have my regular dr. do it. Since I go to a health clinic that doesn't go over well with them. I am getting ready to change clinics.
We live in the country in TN so things aren't very accessible here. The local hospitals in our county, and the county next to us has closed.
I am on Medicare, and also have a supplemental which is a real blessing. I even took out a small burial policy to cover that.
I feel slower and worse with each passing year, but not surprised. If I do any gardening now it is with a few pots on my front porch.
I had a bad fall in my house a few months ago, and broke my wrist. I just slipped on something, and my left leg went under me with me hitting down on my right side and on my arm and hand.
I don't recommend this. ;) Yes my sense of humor is the one thing I have. I had cast for 5 weeks, then brace which I am still using. I had some physical therapy, but doing it on my own right now until my next visit with the ortho.
Me and hubby still do our best to take care of each other. We have our enjoyment with our 2 fur babies. Both girls. One is 13, and the little sassy one is 8. We rely on our faith.
My son and daughter in law helps us with mowing our grass, and keeping check on us.
I am glad that several familiar names here are doing as well as you are, and that means that you are still in the battle. A battle that no one would ever want.
All of you have always been in my prayers, and will continue to be as long as I am still going.
susanep :)
Susan, I am glad to hear from you. I have been thinking of you as there aren't so many of us old timers anymore. Sounds like you are hanging in there, You were in such tough shape years ago while in last year or two of teaching and it took so long to get you doctors care, etc. Sorry that you will be losing your rheumy but so many are starting to lose docs and no replacements. It is a sign of the times.
Say hi to your hubby ands take care of yourselves. Glad to hear your son and wife are still able to check on your. Keep on checking in so we know how you are doing. Take care and God Bless. Irish
What a lovely post/update.
I am glad you are doing reasonably well.
I remember you being on here quite often
We need to keep doing what we can, for as long as we can.
Take care.

Thank you irish, and I think of you often too. I will try to be here more often.
eye2dry, it's good to hear from you too.
Well girls, this old timer needs to be back here, and harass all of you. :)

Susanep,
Thanks for your update. It helps to know that we are all still fighting the good fight! I will be 62 years this month, and I also feel like my brain is not working right. I?m having difficulty trying to find the right word! It?s happening more and more and I told my husband that I know it is the Sjogrens, but he just brushes it off and says that it happens to everybody!
I feel so stupid trying to grasp for the right word and it won?t come! And names! My short term memory is not what it used to be!
I also, feel like I have no extra energy to get things done. I?m lucky that I can function as well as I do, but my general fatigue level is a bummer! I asked my Rheumatologist what I can do to increase my energy level and he told me to try and exercise more.
So I?ve been trying. I?ve been walking outside and on a treadmill, and taking a water aerobics class a couple of times per week. I feel really tired afterwards but am not feeling anymore energy😒. I do feel a little stronger for it. My brain is still sluggish.
Wouldn?t it be nice if we could all just drop this chronic fatigue! They used to call me the Energizer Bunny, but not anymore!
I?m also finding that my weight has been creeping up on me so I?m hoping this exercise will help with that. Also, trying to eat less and eat more healthy. Right now, one of my most enjoyable things to do is to snack and eat! The older I get - the less calories I need! This trying to diet and exercise is hard work and I have a feeling it is going to take me a long time to achieve any real results🙁
Keep letting us know how you are doing.
Kathy
