I have been following the boards for some time but have not posted to date. I have a questions about Domperidone which has been a life saver form some here. My question is are you taking this drug along with Plaquinel, as I have seen that it is contraindicated if taking Plaquinel (actually it says hydroxychloroquine which is the generic form.
Thanks.
I have been taking both for years. Do they say why it is contraindicated?
No they do not, it is just on a list of contraindicated drugs when taking this medication. I was wondering because it looked like a couple other members were taking both as well.
The reason for the contraindication is that both are "QT-interval lengthening agents" which means both can have an effect on the electrical conduction and rhythm of the heart, which can be compounded when both are taken together.
If it's necessary to take both, an annual ECG will show developing problems, and any "palpitations" or irregular heart beat should be reported immediately.
Thank you for the clarification.
