Title: Knee News
Post by: Carolina on December 25, 2018, 05:44:46 AM
Dearest Sjogren's Angels,

Here's the 'latest' on my knees.

BOTTOM LINE:

I am not a  candidate for knee replacement surgery.:

1. My PN means that I cannot carry out the walking required to insure recovery after surgery.  And my PN puts stress on my knees because I twist my knees and my back, in order to walk.

2.   I am at high risk of falling because of my instability.   A fall could damage my 'new knee' so that I might require emergency surgery which could lead to amputation of my leg!

3.  The chronic inflammation caused by my Immune Disorder would hamper healing after surgery as well.

So I will live with my knees, the pain and 'falling and crunching' when I stand.

In a way this is a relief.   I have always believed that I should do everything in my power to address  my conditions.  And now I have done all I can for my knees.  Surgery is not an option.

I will have a third round of PT for my legs, and I will continue my exercise at the Fitness Center.

But I can rule out knee replacement surgery.

Regards,  Elaine

Well, now that your are older and have rusty knee's, you can use WD-40 (DMSO) to loosen those rusty parts up. I think that was the logic. ;)

Well, sorry to hear, but I totally understand the reason!

I don't think joint replacement and I will ever do well. I'm hoping not to go there. I will be 68 in January and my knees and hips hurt. I'm in physical therapy for my hip, but I'm progressing.

So all I can say to you is to keep up the exercises!!

I'm sorry surgery isn't an option. Chronic pain is just exhausting. I hope the PT helps and you find some kind of options that give you relief.
