Recently I read an interesting study stating that estrogen modulation could be the culprit behind many auto-immune diseases. Seing the popularity of family planning using the Birth Control Pill (BCP) and/or pessary/coil containing synthetic hormones, I wonder if there is a correlation to Sjogren's.
Speaking for myself, right from the onset of trying the BCP I had many strange symptoms that - in retrospect - could be related to influencing estrogen levels and the effects it excerts on the estrogen receptor. Could this be a coincidence?
With this poll I hope to get some insight into how many patients actually used synthetic hormones as a birth control method.
Was I the only one with weird side-effects? Below you're welcome to state your own experiences.
THANK YOU for participating!
Kind regards,

Maria, I could not tolerate birth control pills! However, I do take bio identical HRT for menopause. Hope this helps.
Hi Deb,
Thanks for participating.
So you also could not tolerate synthetic hormones ...
Do the bio-identical ones in HRT lessen Sjogren's symptoms?
