Title: How long have you been on Evoxac/Salagen?
Post by: Deseree on October 08, 2018, 12:11:06 AM
I am thinking about asking my doctor to prescribe one of these meds at my next visit and I have a few questions.

Do these become less effective the more you use them? Is it possible to build up a tolerance or "overwork" the glands by constantly stimulating them with meds?

Is there anyone here who has taken them for 10+ years and can report on long term effectiveness, side effects, etc?

I know I keep asking lots of questions on here, I'm just struggling with the symptoms and I'm really scared because none of my doctors have yet been able to suggest a cause. They don't think it's Sjogren's, but I have so many of the symptoms and I just want some relief! Thanks again everyone, you are always so helpful!

I have been on Evoxac for more than three years. Still works as well today as when I started.

Have been on Exovac for 3 or 4 months. It is really helping. As a bonus it has made my eyes less dry as well.

Hi Deseree,

I've been on Salagen or generic pilocarpine for 15 years now. I do feel it's become less effective over time, but this is possibly due to the fact that I've entered menopause.

The effectiveness can be enhanced by simultaneous use of hormones (especially dhea, testosterone or estrogen), supplements (curcumine, glucosamine, green lip muscle extract, nigella sativa, etc.) or antibiotics and such.

Basically I couldn't function without it!
