Because I bumpped into this LDN (Low-dose Naltrexone) info and have been dealing with some heavy fatigue for several months I have been juggling thoughts of relying on prednisone to pull me up out of a flare, this seems like a good alternative.
I did a search here on SJW and there was no current info.

I've been on LDN since December, for pain. Still working out the right dosage. I cannot take any opioids, or NSAIDs, and since I can no longer take Cymbalta, pain became a serious issue.
LDN helps a great deal.
I see a Pain Specialist at Duke, and he is managing my LDN care.
I use Women's International Pharmacy which compounds the LDN for me. It is MUCH cheaper than most compounding pharmacies.

I have a 3 month's supply of 135 3mg capsules for about $136. I take one capsule a day, and have extra so that I can take a second capsule as needed. The same RX from the only compounding pharmacy in NC would be well over $200.
Women's International Pharmacy is a very large compounding pharmacy with headquarters in Wisconsin, and Arizona.

I have used Women's International Pharmacy for over 20 years for Estradiol, and my husband uses it for testosterone gel.

Is this not an RX that insurance honors?
Are Rhuemy ?s open to giving prescriptions for it?
Not at my local pharmacy.
The RX is compounded specifically in doses for you.
Not covered by my RX Insurance.

To your questions: If one's regular pharmacy is a compounding pharmacy it is possible (if purchasing in small dosages). However, if you want it through your regular pharmacy, a doc can write the Rx in larger dose amounts & you can dilute them. When using this med off label (not what it was originally intended for & approved through the FDA for), one must have it compounded.
I know some people whose insurance companies do cover it, mine is not one of them.
Some Rheumies do (mine does), but many do not.
