Title: Cevimeline/ Exovac newbie question
Post by: Gorn on July 14, 2018, 07:36:07 AM
I just started taking this.

It says there can be serious drug interactions with alcohol.
For people who are on Cevimeline, did you give up alcohol entirely?

I've been on Pilocarpine (Salagen) or Cevimeline (Evoxac) continuously since 2002.

I have never considered alcohol consumption to be a factor.

I do take several medications that have contra indications for alcohol.  I've ignored those, as well.

I clearly have a cast iron liver and a strong constitution relative to alcohol intake.

For example, I have taken 80 mg Lipitor daily since 1999.  Liver good as gold, so far.

All that said, I drink very little now, and I certainly don't think a high intake of alcohol is good for anyone.  Heaven's all those calories, for starters.

Ask you doctor.  Read the labels.  See what happens.

Life is a work in progress.  And ends only one way.

Regards,  Elaine

I take exovac but not daily.  I tend to take it more as needed.  I have, on occasion had a (literally one) glass of wine the same day I took the exovac and only felt slightly more tired...

That being said, the warnings are there for a reason.  Check with your rheumy or minimally the pharmacist and ask them if you can safely consume alcohol, what type and how much while taking this drug.  That way you are safe and not sorry.

Everyone and every body is different - no two individuals will respond identically so best to check with those health care providers who know you, your history, and most importantly the medications you are on to be able to advise you what is best for you and your situation.

Sending positive thoughts your way.
