I'm always cold. DH likes to keep the house at 68? F which should be a comfortable temperature for most people. Not for me - I always have to add a sweater or hoodie and sometimes I add a down filled coat or jacket - inside my house. There are times at night when I'm trying to sleep that I'm so cold under a down filled comforter that I can't sleep all night from being cold. I bought electric throws to use when that happens - and even with the added warmth it takes a while to get warm enough.
In the old days I could just do a couple of jumping jacks or other vigorous exercise and be warm again. Can't do jumping jacks now - no bounce in the knees - and I have to do extensive vigorous exercise to warm up.
On the other hand - when I get warm - then I get too hot - uncomfortably hot. It's as if I have no middle zone of just being comfortable. If I raise the house temperature up to 70? F - I get too hot.
I have extensive neuropathy which I believe is part of the problem. When my temperature is measured at the doctor's office (mouth) I'm usually 99.5 - 100?F which is on the high side of normal.
Does anyone else have this problem - and how do you deal with this kind of problem. This is so annoying.
I am more prone to being too warm these days, but I would be cold if it were 68 in my house.
We keep it at 72 in the summer when it gets really hot (as in 95-100 degrees).
My husband says it's like being in a meat locker!

Jazzlover - thanks for your response - your making me see my problem in a different way. If I was somewhere and it was 72 degrees, I would be too hot and have trouble sleeping at night. Maybe my problem is not that I'm too cold all the time, but that I can't seem to be comfortable at a range of temperatures that most people would consider comfortable?
I can get to feeling like I am having chills when I'm having a flare.
I find I don't deal with the heat as well anymore - but that also happens to ppl as they age.
If I am having some neuropathy symptoms I really don't like the heat.
Also, women in general prefer ambient temperatures 1 or 2 degrees warmer than what feels comfortable to most men.
(My ex was an exception. She liked the thermostat turned down to 65. Brr.)
Yes. Before my husband died, it was duel of the thermostat...several times a day. I keep my therm at 75....and still can get cold. Any warmer, my house is uncomfortable at night. So...I keep cotton gloves, thick socks, and sweaters/jackets and wraps around ALL the time.

i didn?t realize that men and woman prefer different temps. Many of my female friends complain in the heat and want colder temperatures.
I get the chills even under my electric heated throw. I know it?s heating and I can feel the heat yet I get the chills. So weird.

wow, 75 degrees F is warm. So I?m not the only one wearing coats and gloves in the house. I?ve even had Raynaud?s attacks in my hands inside at 68 degrees F although normally they start when the temps fall into the 40?s or lower.
Cold all the time until age 45.
Now I'm hot all the time.
And have temp dysregulation, which means my body can't adjust.
My basic body temperature, with a thermometer is about 97 degrees, by the way.
at 98.8 I am not well.
Go figure. Layers are the answer, and turtlenecks are a thing of the past.

I feel less I tolerate the heat less, and I too am having some neuropathies, and the heat makes it worse. I get overheated easily, I used to be cold all the time when I was sued diagnosed at 32, now at 54, I feel hot alot of the time, not sure why.
