I thought I'd lately discovered a solution of sorts to my dry nose in Ponaris, but have become very concerned about the possibility of contracting lipoid pneumonia.
Many people know that this is a significant risk when using petroleum jelly-based products, and some manufacturers caution you to not use them inside the nose.
But I also read the same warnings when investigating various plant oils, which I had hoped/assumed would not present a problem because I'd thought the body could easily absorb them.
So how is it that we find warnings against using plant oils as an emollient due to these risks, and are then also advised to use Ponaris internally (by Ponaris, as well as many allergists and ENTs) - which uses cottonseed oil for its base?
(It may be less irritative to the lungs by some accounts, but we're cautioned to not even put Vaseline inside the front of the nose, where we're instructed to actually tilt our heads back and use an eyedropper to administer the Ponaris. I would think that other plant oils should be deemed to be just as safe, if Ponaris's cottonseed oil can be said to be. But according to other sources none are.)
