Another symptom I?ve been having recently is petechiae. It?s covered both of my legs below the knee. My doctors keep testing my platelets which are always normal. My rheumatologist says that I will likely develope vasculitis, which he says is serious and he will have to put me on more meds.
Has anyone else had petechiae?
If so, did u eventually get vasculitis?
I haven't had that yet but my hubby had a reaction to sulfa with petechiae on his lower legs. The docs checked his kidneys and some of his blood work was off so he had to stop the sulfa immediately. Vasculitis can affect the kidneys so just as a precaution I would ask the docs if they have checked you kidney blood work. Vasculitis can affect the smaller vessels in some diseases and the larger vessels in other so it can be confusion and as usual the autoimmune issues keep us all on our toes. Good luck. Irish
Are you on or have you taken steroids? I ask because this can be a side effect, at least it was for me.
My kidney function was good the last time I had labs, I?m probably due for more soon.
I haven?t taken steroids recently because I don?t tolerate them well anymore. I?ve taken so much over the years.
