Title: Best climate for sjogren patient?
Post by: happylife on April 04, 2018, 06:15:42 AM
Hi,

based on your past experience if you had to choose between

a. city - amsterdam - whose temperature is 35f to 77f and humidity is 70%
b. city - san jose - whose temperate is 42f to 77f and humidity is 60%

these two climates are equally for a sjogren patient or very different?

please share some of your experiences w.r.t different city climates or seasonal changes in the same city.

Thanks

That?s a good question, unfortunately I only have to guess at the answer because I live in South Florida and we don?t have real changes in weather during seasons, but I do notice on the few days of the year that it gets drier than I?m used to I get drier as well, my mouth, lips and eyes do not appreciate the change. So my answer would be more humid is better? but I could be wrong. I feel more fatigue with higher temperatures.

I've lived in several climates and managed my dryness pretty well with a huge whole house humidifier whenever the furnace was running to heat the house.

I even lived in El Paso, TX, high desert, with extreme dryness and almost constant wind blowing.  Because we can manage the environment in our houses, the outside isn't as important, I think.

For many reasons I no longer do any outdoor actives, except exercise in our association's outdoor pool.  That is very pleasant.  Summers here in NC are very hot and humid, so it is a pleasure to be in our huge, uncrowded pool.

The rest of the year I exercise in an indoor pool.

Ages ago I used to garden, walk, bike, ski, hike, and generally have an 'outdoor life'.  No longer.

Honestly, I think almost any place we can choose to live will have some drawbacks in one season or another.
