I haven't been on the forum much the past weeks cause I just moved into my coop a little over 2 weeks ago. My move was about 2 blocks down the street from my house and I am behind a grocery store and can have meds and groceries delivered if needed. I am about 3 blocks from McDonalds and 4 blocks from Walmart, Dairy Queen and Burger Chef. Also about 5 blocks from the library. Good part of town.
I like my apartment and it is one large bedroom and also have my washer and dryer in my walk in closet. The problem is I have so much stuff and it is really slow unpacking and putting things away as I am post op from that cervical spinal fusion end of November. My arms develop so much pain when I use them and I also have back pain. This is quite normal with fusions as you have the previous pain post op and it improves very slowly. The spinal cord heals extremely slowly.
I still have a lot of things to deal with In the house expecially the basement. So, have to go slowly and hope to get things done in time to put on market this spring. My one son had a colon resection done 2 days after the boys moved me. It was a planned resection after a huge abscess in colon and one month in the hospital before Christmas. Never rains but what it pours.
I hope that every one here is doing ok and staying warm this winter. Spring should be here soon but we will surely have more wooly weather. Take care all.
P.S. I was without internet for well over a week and I had withdrawal without my computer. Irish
Take care of your self and take things slow.
When I moved mom from her 2 br apt to assisted living. it was a bit traumatic. The 2 br was too much after she went on Oxygen. Her tanks did not fill fast enough for her to do much and being hooked to the cord was a challenge.
She thought that things would get better in the assisted living. It was close to her bank and had a lot of amenities. The oxygen issue kept her tied most of the time to her unit. A bowel obstruction sent her to the hospital for the third time before she left.
She had gotten rid of a lot of things when she left the appartment. She picked up some new furniture when she moved to the assisted living.
I feel your pain. I didn't have surgery, but I have lots of pain issues. My husband and I had to clear our storage that had been sitting there for 23 years. We had to do it in 5 days and it nearly killed us. OUCH!!! I'm talking hundreds of boxes. Most of it went to the dump.
So, what I'm saying to you is DONATE OR THROW IT OUT. Do it now so you don't have to do it later.
HIRE HELP if you can afford it .. you can't do this on your own.
Take care and enjoy your new place!
I'm glad you like your new place, and that it's in a good location. Your priority has to be recovering well from the operation, so I guess a lot of the unpacking and sorting out could just be put on hold till you're stronger - surely there's no rush with that?
....and we have been lost without you :-* Been crazy busy here at work, plus sick for some time with the dreaded flu, had time to read some posts, but no time to post at all. Probably wouldnt have been the most positive posts anyway. The area you've moved to sounds great. As araminta stated...make recovery your priority. Stay strong and rest all you can, it is always good to hear from you.

Irish,
I am so glad you are where it has places if you need something there. Take things slow and get your rest in the midst of everything. It sounds nice where you are.
